Woman at the little Spanish restaurant across from work says to me, "Haven't seen you in awhile." I didn't have the heart to tell her why. A nearly identical store opened two doors from hers that opens before hers in time for me to get breakfast before work and when you order a burrito you actually get what you order not a rice burrito. Top it off the beef in the new places burrito is actually pretty good quality steak.

Out here we have that problem in all the restaurants. I chalk it up to the cross cultural hiring, see...all the McDonalds have Mexicans working for them and all the Taco Bells have Americans working for them.

Neither of which knows how to make each others' food.

Local Japanese restaurant has a Hispanic cook except he looks Japanese and isn't half bad. I work at an Italian caterer and the good cook is Italian but everyone else is Hispanic.

As much as I like Chinese food, I'm not wild about Japanese food.

I especially can't stand the Californicated wannabe Japanese food a.k.a. uncooked fish a.k.a. spring rolls a.k.a. sushi.

Some of the best "fast food" take out Chinese food I ever had was at a little hole in the wall place in Germany. The owner, chinese man, spoke english, chinese and german.. I was a little shocked when he answered the phone and spoke fluent german. You never know where you will find food you like.

Have to agree with Karxan. Best Chinese food I had was in Kuwait. You might think it strange for a Chinese restaurant to have ZERO pork options but they made up for it with alot more seafood and an entire page of duck options.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

As a general rule I do not bother with your average hole in the wall/ take out /delivery Chinese food place that you can find anywhere in America. It just seems invariably that I'll spend the next day with diarrhea. I did discover one hole in the wall delivery place when I went in to pick something up for a friend and noticed the joint was immaculately clean doesn't hurt that one of the owners has great legs either. So until I spend a day with my but glued to a toilet after eating food from there I pretty much only have one take Chinese joint in America that I get food from. OTH if a Chinese joint is more upscale I'll chance it. As a mind set that cares if they get written up for their food probably means better quality but again my rule is one time with my but glued to the toilet and I am done with the place. Discovered a cross between a sports bar and Chinese food restaurant next door to my daughter's dance school that s real good. LOVE the Chinese pizza appetizer. Between the pizza and a Sam Adams I get some quality alone time while the girls are in dance school for two hours.
