While working on the webzine I realized some of us have expanded the AD equipment into the Knight Hawks supplement... I think I'm going to work on a project to do just that. Here's my first shot at the laser battery;

Laser Battery
Range: 1/2/3/4/9 (PB/S/M/L/E)
Damage: 1d10 per SEU
Ammo: 1,000 SEU drum
Rate: 2
Defense: Albedo
DTM: +0
Cost: 5,000

For each range there is a -10% to hit, just like a character.

So the character is hit by a starship's laser battery and the albedo screen protects them or is that the defense for another ship or installation?
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

I'll need to make a scale, something like;

Scale Damage
Character d10
Vehicle d10 x 5
Spaceship d10 x 10

No... that's not right... at least for compatibility with my previous optional rules. 
I already accounted for vehicle grade weapons on a character scale in Non-Civilian Duty Vehicles, Issue 15. An "autolaser" does 10d10 (average 55 damage), a "laser cannon" does 2d10x10 (average 110 damage). 

I need to make spaceship weapons on the same scale. That means hull points will need to be extrapolated as well.

Wonder if I should use the same categories for spaceship weapons? (Small, Medium, Large)

Spitter (projectile), 2d10x10, 4d10x10, 6d10x10
Rocket Battery (projectile) 4d10x10, 6d10x10, 8d10x10
Laser Cannon (beam) 6d10x10, 8d10x10, 10d10x10

Spaceship Defenses

Albedo - absorbs laser damage
Gauss - absorbs energy based broad-spectrum attacks but not lasers such as electron beam battery, proton beam battery
Inertia - absorbs half damage from projectiles, collisions, ramming, etc.
Ion - (replaces sonic), need some new ion based weapon, maybe it stuns a ship, no damage
Armor - increases hull points like it does for vehicles.

So... maybe it's time to work on Non-Civilian Duty Spaceships. Smile

it already does that sort of: Ion window blocks scanning.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

I envision the Ion Screen to specifically absorb or deflect ion and EMP attacks that scramble electronics. I suppose you could say a ion window can absorb the same type of incoming energy or at the least disperse it. IMO the falls into the realm of character ingenuity, "Hey, lets release ions from the engine in all directions." GM, "You can't use your engines while windowing".

Here's the thing to remember about screens. When they block different spectrums of the electromagnetic field they also block your sensors of different types. Never really covered in KH rules but something to add for fun for all.

Good point. 
These ships could deploy probes that communicate via pi-tachyons. 
Knock out the probes, knock out communication and sensors.

"Drop the screens and bring her about, Oh Aye! We be gunning fer thar throats!"
