Recently spent some time trying to wrap my head around the dice mechanic and just didn't get it.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Ha He! Look at the Klick Clack module I loaded into the Klick project! The rules sections are enough to spin your head! Foot in mouth

amazing that there were so many options for playing alternity rules in so many different settings.

Actually, I'm a big fan of the Alternity dice mechanic.  I use Alternity quite a bit.

I'm not even going to try to figure it out. GM Fiat for weapon damages and races...

Weapon damage is determined by how well you roll.  The GM has nothing to do with weapon damage.  Weapons do either Ordinary, Good or Amazing damage.  Alternity is one of the simplest game systems out there.  Don't base your opinion on later modifications to the basic system.  There are a lot of Alternity fans out there, whom we'd like to have on our side.  Is this the thread you want them to see?  The he-man Alternity-haters club?

The thread title implies that people can come here to discuss the Alternity dice mechanic, yet it starts right out bashing it.  You are not likely to get any Star Frontiers players who use Alternity interested in your site or magazine this way.  I thought we were trying to get more people interested, not alienate them.

Good point. For my part, I am simply trying to say that I find the dice mechanic more difficult than I do that of SF, and as I am trying to incorporate elements of Alternity into my SF game, I'll probably wing a lot of it and go with the spirit of the material. Not attempting to bash at all. I've been reading through a lot of Alternity stuff lately and find the setting and materials fascinating. I am definitely going to find a corner of my game setting to squeeze this stuff in. I'd love to see the Frontier get culture shock by interacting with a PL7 Alternity setting!!!

Ironically, on the Alternity website, I'm the guy who has to explain and defend Star Frontiers!

What's the best site for that bossmoss? I'm trying to get some good decplans, and some more RP tips for the alien races. I'm really wanting to go in a less human-centric direction for the Verge. A little more farscape-ish. Maybe having the only 'human' species (brought to you by the Tetrarchs) be the big empire, and then re-writing some of the other governments as different species.
