UPF Uniformed Services Rank Structure
|
At long last a comprehensive visual guide to the premere services of the UPF! Some you have heard of, some are buried in the depths of Imagine magazine. Still others originate on old Earth.
This is version 1.1. Version 1.0 used Paltonic solids for the field grade and flag officer ranks. The change was made bacause of concerns that the Platonic solids look like dice and gave the ranks a "Geek" feel. The new ranks use symbols discussed as insignia three years ago by "CleanCutRogue."
jedion357 May 22, 2011 - 4:44am | I like the new star burst better, but then we discussed it privately. Great bit of work Love this. Side note: on the page for the Marshal of Forces is says that the Marshal of Forces can come from any branch of service, which I agree with but I'd also bet that they come from Space Fleet more often then not. I'm not suggesting that you change the comment- just suggesting fluff for the setting- since Space Fleet's importance will be so strong its likely that by unwritten convention that most Marshal of Forces will come from its branch- which will be a good thing in any war with the sathar as fighting will at first be primarily space borne till the battle lines stablize and things knuckle down to siege operations on planets. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jacobsar May 26, 2011 - 1:47pm | I agree that more often than not it will be Spacefleet. The actual concept I was aiming for was that the Marshal is equivilant to the US five star position. This rank is only activated in the case of an all out emergency. The character of the emergency is what determins the service used. I see the Space Fleet taking the lead during the SW1 and 2 and the Emergency Service Legion having it during the Blue plague crisis. I don't think there are any other incidents in history that activated this rank, unless you can think of any? w00t (not verified) August 25, 2012 - 6:31pm | jacobsar, Do you have a write-up that accompanies the PDF (I know some test is in the document). Would make a good submissions. If we split out the images individually and zip them up, Referee's can use them in their adventure modules. |
jacobsar August 28, 2012 - 4:34am | I will work on that this weekend. Reasonable men adapt to the world around them; unreasonable men make the world adapt to them. The world is changed by unreasonable men. Edwin Louis Cole |
