jedion357 April 19, 2011 - 5:43pm | Was going thru my piant studio and discovered 2 blister packs of tholian ships for Star Fleet battles and thought they'd make good vrusk ships pictured are 2 hvy cruisers, a war cruiser and a corvette also ripped off the top of a pez dispenser of a death star and mounted it on a base I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jedion357 April 19, 2011 - 5:44pm | I actually like the ship with the blocky aft section as a small freighter I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
spyder April 19, 2011 - 5:51pm | Looks great, nice paint job. hope to see more of your work. |
thespiritcoyote April 19, 2011 - 11:44pm | Tholians for vrusk ships? love that! they would be shaped appropreate for their physical form. whats the orb used for? lots of potential there. Oh humans!! We discover a galactic community filled with multiple species of aliens, and the first thing we think about is "how can we have sex with them?". ~ anymoose, somewhere on the net... so... if you square a square it becomes a cube... if you square a cube does it become an octoid? |
jedion357 April 20, 2011 - 3:24pm | The orb is the Death Star- I would never have tried to build or buy a death star miniature but since the pez dispenser was so cheaply obtained on ebay I figured why not. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Deryn_Rys April 20, 2011 - 3:45pm | because we all know the Vrusk have been secretly building Deathstars for years.... "Hey guys I wonder what this does"-Famous last words "Hey guys, I think it's friendly." -Famous last words "You go on ahead, I'll catch up." -Famous last words "Did you here that?" -Famous last words |
jedion357 April 20, 2011 - 3:55pm | because we all know the Vrusk have been secretly building Deathstars for years.... Actually, and this is truly ominous, that maybe the globe ship of the dralasites mentioned in my time line article. Just why do the dralasite require a station with the power to blow away an whole planet? The implications of that are staggering. Perhaps all the horsing and joking around by them is nothing more than a plan to disarm us all from believing they are truly capable of such villany. Its time we wake up and take a stand against dralasites while we still can. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Deryn_Rys April 20, 2011 - 4:01pm | and that ominous disc is really a satalite feed so the Dralasites can take over a planet's satalite feeds and force the plant's population to submit to their demands or be forced to watch reruns of the Beverly Hillbillies, Our gang and the Marx brothers all day long. "Hey guys I wonder what this does"-Famous last words "Hey guys, I think it's friendly." -Famous last words "You go on ahead, I'll catch up." -Famous last words "Did you here that?" -Famous last words |
thespiritcoyote April 20, 2011 - 4:41pm | Ok, as Dralasite Assault Orb or Priva-sphere, it works. Might be about the scale of a transport Rondure, or military Destrorb or Battleball. Oh humans!! We discover a galactic community filled with multiple species of aliens, and the first thing we think about is "how can we have sex with them?". ~ anymoose, somewhere on the net... so... if you square a square it becomes a cube... if you square a cube does it become an octoid? |
spyder April 20, 2011 - 8:41pm | Hmmm......Maybe that's why the Federation went with the baseball bat shaped ships. |
Captain Rags April 25, 2011 - 9:32pm | Actually, the Dralasites have been secretly working on the a huge organic space station called the Death Blob. HAN SOLO:"That fighter is heading towards that small Dralasite!" OBI WAN:"That's no Dralasite... it's a space station!" HAN SOLO:"It's too big to be a space station! LUKE: "Ohhhhh CRAP!" spyder April 28, 2011 - 9:21am | I ran across this. maybe it will help spur your imagination. Found it on a search of "Perry Rhodan" space ships, its kind of a common theme. |
w00t (not verified) April 28, 2011 - 1:58pm | @Captain, change the names and we could have a small nuggest for the webzine. |
thespiritcoyote May 1, 2011 - 2:34pm | THAT is what I imagined from a Dralasite! In fact, very close to what I had envisioned for the Dral seedship to the frontier, about a half dozen of those, spread top forward, around a donut or bolt shaped hull, a little like an oversized Valley Forge. Also the Cavorite Sphere makes a nice basis for a Dralasite work-pod. Or check out the Aries Passenger as a basic Luxury Liner/Yacht Lander design. I have also played a little with the Flight of The Navigator - Memory Metal Ships, as a Dralasite typical nu-tech, where the ship might have 1 to 3 minor adjustment configurations. Just enough to adjust 'streamlining' from aquatic, atmospheric, or space environments, without changing the basic (somewhat bulbous) layout. Oh humans!! spyder April 30, 2011 - 12:19pm | For the valley forge silent running ships i posted some info on the miniatures project page. Its a free down load you can make out of paper and card stock, but would work well for large space station AG projects. More on the perry rhodan style the ball ships, orbs seem to be what influenced the death star. a quick search on Perry Rhodan will show you these massive orb style and orb ships. a close look at the image below shows some orb ships in the docking bay (as I said kind of a common theme). |
