April 13, 2011 - 8:19am | Updated Skeletal Concept for the PGC-Ex Polaris 1V Class, Long Range Deep Space Exploration Station. The attempt being to show the most iconic elements of the influencing design... The parts that always stand out as distictive for me, when I look at the movie and book concept art. Not sure it makes a SF compatable architectural style. Four Forward Ions, Forward Observation/Astrogation Tower, Two Oversized Rear Ions, Four Inner-Rear Atomics, Rear Cargohold/Transport Bay, Rear Command Tower Lots of of pods, looks like everything from hydroponics and science labs, to full machinist shops and refineries, can be found on the ship somewhere... and they don't call the medical pod 'sick-bay' they call it 'The Hostpital' as if it is a full medical facility. The minimum hull size is looking like around HS9... the underlying structure seems to approximate a supercarrier central axis, with two coaxial structual secondaries to keep the oversized nacel thrusters distributed in-line with the main axis. Fairly large forward mounted quad ion nacelles... (to distrubute thrust stresses? what? its like a four-wheel-drive?  )Guess if you re planning on going singularity-bogging, and jumping dark-energy distortion-crests, months from the nearest garage, you need every bit of help you can get!!!  Anyway, need to look at how to combine the basic skeleton, with a SF design scheme. Oh humans!!
