 March 13, 2011 - 12:47pm | Earth and Beyond was my favorite space-based MMO, ever. In fact, it was my favorite MMO. EA shut it down for a code snippet, after they bought the company that produced it.
Well, some fans reverse-engineered it, and have a private server up and running. Here is a link to the download and installation instructions. March 14, 2011 - 4:37am | I've played between 2-4 hours each weekend day. Everquest should have been called Evergrind. This game gives you 3 ways to level. You can get combat, trade, or explore experience, all of which have levels, and add to your overall level. This way, you don't have to just bang your head on a wall and hope to level every 3 days. This game doesn't require a huge commitment to have fun, and to me, that's what it's all about. It'd be nice to have a bunch of guys to hang with and have fun in general. In the game, you can be a warrior, trader, or explorer class, each with their own individual flair in each of the 3 races. You can breakdown items to learn how to build them, and improve their quality. You can do trade cargo runs to build your trade experience. You can level just exploring the galaxy, and of course, through combat. There are too many things to list here on what is able to be done in this game. I played the original from beta through to the end, and missed it terribly for years. Now, it's back, and I couldn't be happier. After all, it's free, all it'll cost you is a little time.  March 14, 2011 - 10:02am | OMG I loved Earth and Beyond and stood manly by (no crying when EA cancelled so they "could concentrate of other games" (can you say Madden Football). Have to try the new one. We can team up. Will let you know when I get on. Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
March 14, 2011 - 10:38am | Hey Ratt, The new dev guys even added back in the 3 deleted classes! Progen Privateer, Jenquai Seeker and Terran Scout. The Priv/Seek are tradesmen and the Scout is an explorer. I'm hard diggin the Progen Privateer. Guns and Trade Skills and Shield Inversion...Oh My! New problem when I try to register the game (how many times do you need to register?) my security program yanks me away and says this is a known phishing site and won't let me on. Going to have to lower the setting to get on. Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
