 February 8, 2011 - 8:13pm | Was just watching a travel show on Europe's 5 micro states: Vatican City, Republic of San Morino, The Principality of Liechtenstein, Principality of Monaco, and the Republic of Andora And I thought, I want one for the Frontier but- it would probably have to be in the Rim since none of the UPF planets are all that old. With the Rim having legitimate homeworlds with what we must presume are long histories that sector is the most logical location for a micro state. Here's my thoughts- On Hum one lineage, which during more feudal times fortified a mountain/hill (much like San Morino) has managed to continue to assert its fierce independence. The Highest One has effectively unified the planet but this one lineage is a hold out. Its members even refer to the head of thier lineage as the Highest One. As an independent lineage and micro state is a bit backward and traditional. Its somewhat desolate and impregnatable locale made it too costly to concur and it was allowed to wither in its desolate mountain fastness. Till the advent of the Hummarin space age and contact with the ifshnit and osakar. This independent lineage managed to build a star port (with some underwriting form the CFM) and since they have had unofficial independent status for 400 years and officially recognized independence for another 700 the write their own laws and have the lowest taxes, fees and tarriffs in the system. CFM captains highly favor this port of call and though they cant normally sell or buy bulk cargos at this port its become an fairly active market for unique items and smuggling. Boon Sheh looking to move between Hum and Larg usually do so on a CFM vessel and through this port. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |

Makes me think of Quark in the DS9 episode House of Quark. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
