Ran across this: http://news.mongabay.com/2011/0109-morgan_insect_meat.html
Makes me think a little more about food on the Frontier.
Long live the Frontier!

Yummyyyy!!! I'll take a slab of c0ckroach with a side of termites. Though chances are, they'll probably stick to more kosher foods like locusts. I don't see roach meat becoming a popular diet.

Of course, I also found it intriguing about the in vitro meat.  That sounds right for SF, even more than bug farms.

We here at "Bug on a Bun" cater to the Vrusk on the go. so If you've got 5 minutes to spare before your next corporate meeting why not stop in for a quick bite, and remember we serve Humma too.

Does anyone know how many cockroaches it takes to make a burger?
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

Really get sick of other people telling me what I should/shouldn't, can/can't eat.  If I want to mainline Crisco, it's my right to do so.  Take your bug goo, tofu-eating self back to Berkeley...

Having eaten bugs, I'm pretty sure this wont take off.

As for SF invitro meat and bug farming is a good idea. Come to think of it I already introduced the idea of the Cryxian Roach being popular with humma- perhaps the natural toxins in the roach overcome the humma's dull sense of taste and they find them tangy.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

No, but I do know how many cockroaches it takes to make a free burger.

Only one.

Eating bugs. Not just for your little brother anymore.

As for people telling me what to eat and not eat, I just pop the nice, juicy bite of medium rare steak in my mouth with the one hand, and give them a portion of uncooked bird with the other.

They'll at least find 'em crunchy.

When I run into people who complain about what I eat I happily tell them that Soylent Green is "People Food" & let them make what they want out of that. As for the other, when they can get it to taste like a Quarter Punder with Cheese I will start paying attention. :)
