Remastering the Frontier

For all those interested in remastering the remaining material for the star frontiers game.

I have been slowly getting all of the SF and Alternity products into text format. I realize many in this community have been trying to type out the material and I think many of us are working on the same things. I woulod like to prevent the duplication of effort.

I invite all of you to use the Port Loren Public Libray Project site. I have been filling it with whatever I have for a while now, But I have recently started to post the text of the modules. So far I have "Mutiny on the Eleanor Moreas" and "War Machine". Today I will be adding "2001."

W00T says that the posts are "Not pretty, but a good resource" this is a good discription. The downloadables are in RT or Word, don't include graphics and have almost no format but they are ready for somone to give the SFman treatment to.

I will keep cranking out the text...who will take the next step? I think if some of us work like an assembly line we could crank out the entire cannon by early next year.

What do you think?

Thank you for doing this, very much appreciated. :-)

I was thinking about using the Digitally Remastered Project to coordinate this effort.
Today, I re-drew the deck plan for Assault on Starship Omicron.

For what purpose?
If you have it are you remastering it for the community? If so use the SFMAN layout and post in the Remastered project so we know who is working on what.

Yes, I remastered it a long time ago, but it didn't seem to fit Bill's specs for remastering. I'll do as you say.

I sent the OCR's of the modules and a Dramune Run module PDF your way. You may be surprised at how exactingly traditional the Dramune Run module is. I worked hard to make it look just like Bill's modules. I still had the old template on my computer.

Just noticed that my PDF copy of Dramune Run is a scanned copy and its missing page 12 altogether.

getting the rest of the moduoles remastered might be a good priority.

I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Great to see the ball is rolling! I have Trouble on Janus OCRd and a few other bits. I will be working on a few more this weekend. I will post them as soon as I have cleaned up the OCR for gibberish.

Great!
I plan on finishing my remastered project in Jan, after Issue 16 is out. :-)

Page 4 is missing from Janus. I already have all the text. I even tried contacting the convention that produced it, repeatedly, trying to get the lost page, but they gave me a bunch of reassuring words that they'd find it and never even searched for it. Three times they said they'd look for it the next day and all three times they never did.

So if anyone wants to write the fourth page, feel free. I was going to, but I found the author of the module so crass (apparently players are idiots to him) that I found it difficult to focus on completing it. It also showed little knowledge of Star Frontiers. I get the sense that the selection of entries was slim pickings for that contest and this guy tossed his hat into the ring for a game he knew next to nothing about.

Have you tried downloading the .zip that contains scans?
http://www.starfrontiers.com/modules/janus/index.htm

If it's still missing page 4, you'll need to post your work so we can work on it.

Thanks Ascent, January is Re-Mastered Month. Smile

Really? Just send the whole thing to me. You got my email. (Why PM? There's limited room in PM, so I try to use it as little as possible.)

Your local library should have photo-copiers that allow network or email scanning.

alright I am behind on a number of technology curves but I have doubts that my local library's copier can do this as east boston is across the harbor from the rest of boston and despite a huge tax base from the air port and the massive oil tank feilds here combined to the tax base on the average 3 decker going for 3/4 of a mil to an even mill; most of that money goes across the harbor and never comes back- what does come back is a pittance compare to what goes to Boston at large.

Anyway they dont use the upper floors at the local library as they leak and they want to just get rid of it. but I'll write down the emails and see if I can get to such a copier on tuesday or wed after Christmas- best I can do right now.
