Pale Questions

I seem to remember reading that the people of Pale were highly religious, maybe even a theocracy, but I can't seem to find that now.  Am I imagining things?  Is this official, or something assumed among the community.  Considering the mixed, heavy population, this makes a theocratic society a difficult proposition.

I could be totally mistaken... :)  I may be confusing the planet Pale with the Theocracy of the Pale (World of Greyhawk).

Remastered Pg76: "Hentz (Araks) is ruled by a religious clan, the Family of One. Everyone who
lives there wears a uniform showing his job and position."

That sounds like a theocracy to me...maybe that's the one you're thinking of.

Yeah, I knew about Hentz, I just thought I'd seen somewhere that Pale was, too.

There's nothing that says Pale isn't a theocracy either. I can imagine dozens of scenarios where a religious organization seizes power either directly or indirectly. ;)

I thought pale was a republic but then I could be mistaken; I'm pretty sure that New Pale is a planet that dispite its light population that is concerned with agricultural production is also, according to some statement somewhere in the cannon is heavily populated with dinosaur like creatures.

not theocracy but just what popped into my head with this thread

Pale could be a republic, with the strings being pulled by a religious authority (*cough* Iran *cough*).

As you might guess, I'm working on the Truane's Star system for a SFm article.  Currently I have New Pale as being terraformed, so saurian creatures would have to be planted there.  If anyone can recall a canon reference otherwise (or any canon on the system beyond the SFAD/Zeb's Guide), I'd appreciate it.

I just did a search for the cannon material and turned up only this:

AD only says, "Pale is the starting point of the only possible starship route through the Xagyg dust clouds."

KHs tells us that Pale's militia numbers 4 hulls including a frigate

Zebs tells us:

1. That Streel is headquarted on Pale at a city called Point True (more details on the mega corp in its listing)

2. in the planetary notes for Pale it repeats the planetary note from AD but adds, "All Rim traffic goes through the system" (one could also say the same for Zebulon system by default) and that Point True is the planets capitol and that the UPF space fortress has the very imaginative and creative name of Pale.

In the Dragon archive under "Volturnus Connection" issue #98 it says that Pale is a cold world while New Pale is

In the Dragon archive under "Volturnus Connection" issue #98 it says that Pale is a cold world while New Pale is "an earth like planet righ in vegitation and animal life. However, this planet is far more dangerous than Pale; huge vicious dinosaurs roam its plain, jungles, and skies, very much like prehistoric Earth. New Pale was settled by humans to supply food to Pale."

There are quite a few details to gleam from that article if you take it for official

I knew I had seen something about dinosaurs just couldn't place it.

Anyway have fun with the article.
