    Slow page loads

    The site seems pretty slow lately....especially the forums.
    It so happens I work in a datacenter where I could set up a server for you if need be.  I'd bet you $10 the host is throttling CPU usage and the site would be faster than hell if it ran on it's own dedicated server.  Just a thought.

    		You might actually loose.  IIRC Bill (CleanCutRogue) said that the problem has to do with the large number of database accesses that the site does.  It actually got kicked off one host because it was making their servers work too hard.  (There is another thread around here about this topic somewhere.

    I offered to host it on my server as well but the offer got declined.  But I'm just runing mine out of my house not a datacenter.

    		In any event, I couldn't use company hardware without someone buying an account, but I can put my own personal machine in the rack and plug it into our 100mb pipe, and I guarantee it would fly.

    		Good thing, too. It's really not worth the time searching for it - regardless how fast/slow you find yourself navigating this site LOL

    		Bill and I have been kicking around the idea to re-build the site (keeping all the content). At the moment were still heavily involved with DwD projects and my only Star Frontiers focus is on the webzine (not so much this site unless it's broke). It's annoying slow for me but I just work around it opening up several windows at once. :-)

    If anyone wants to help bulid a new site it will be Drupal 6 (maybe 7 if it's out). The presentation layer will be separate from the content (currently this sites theme layer and content layer are ONE, suck)

    Again thanks for the offer but as I've said before a faster webserver/sql will not help.
