I would like to see how other systems handle robots. Can anyone give me some online sources? My RPG experience is very limited. SF and D&D is all I have played. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Dragon issue 64 has an article on robots in Traveller. Other issues that articles on robots are 4, 14, 113, 194.

Classic Traveller Book 8.

Traveller Hero

The Alternity version of Gamma World allowed PC Robots. http://alternityrpg.net/onlineforums/index.php?

6th Edition of GW also allowed for PC Robots.

All editions of GW address robots as they make up a lot of the foes. http://www.paforge.com/

D20 Future has a section on robotics

I bet Frontier space has some bang up rules for robots and they'd feel familiar- but you have to sweet take someone who has play test doc of those rules to see if they'll email them to you.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

There won't be any sweet talking at this point without signing a NDC. Bill is the one to talk to. They are some pretty decent rules, too, and yes, familiar.

As for other games, you can check out Cinebar's Fantastic Technology: Droids as well as the Star Wars: Saga - Scavenger's Guide to Droids. Paranoia also has a robots book, though it's a little more NPC-related and silly.

There is an old copy of the robot creation rules on the FS project site.
http://frontierspace.dreamhosters.com/node/241

The format isn't pretty and we have made some changes since moving it to the Referee Book. There are plans to provide an online robot creation tool.

Robot creation is provided for Referee's that like to tinker or build their own robots.  Fifteen robots are provided in the Player's Book.

Thanks for all the directions. I will certainly take advantage off all the 'free' resources at the moment. I am not sure I want to take the risk of buying material that won't help. I am tinkering with the idea of coming up with a doc or a guide about SF robots. Cannon material is exceedingly thin. I'd like to see something akin to what you all have done for star ship creation. But I also would like some information about robotics out there to help players RP better with their robots or npc bots. They all seem to be pretty generic so far. Of course, I am thinking about new or younger gamers, like my children. I have limited experience working with robots in production. I'm not an engineer (but I did go to an engineering university! Tongue out) but I figure if I got the ball rolling, somebody more educated on the matter would be able to correct or guide me when I go astray. I suppose the next step is to figure out how to initiate a project. I'll see about that when I get home from my holiday visits.

It's out of print and rare now, but if you can track down a copy of the stand alone rpg Droids, from 1982, I recommend doing so. It's a post apoc. setting where humans are gone and the PCs are intelligent robots. Custom design rules are interesting, if outdated. The setting has little of the mutant weirdness of Gamma World, so the material easily ports to a hard sci-fi or space opera setting.

Here's the RPG.net entry:

A lot came out in issues #13 and #14 for robots (My Adventure Bots! articles on roleplaying robots, and a robot or two), and #15 promises to have a whole lot more, mostly from yours truly, including the final Adventure Bots! article covering reactions to robots in the Frontier, a robot, robot maintenance, and lots of robot equipment, as well as a second cybernetics article also from me (the first, Bill's, came in issue #14, of course). Larry seems anxious to knock this issue out fairly quickly (hopefully?).
