jedion357 March 2, 2010 - 11:07am | came across this little gem of a story: http://tritacgames.com/fbi.htm about the FBI raiding an RPG gaming company. Amusing. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Arclight March 2, 2010 - 12:16pm | Yep, history of the FBI (not intellegance) is amusing. Remember when the Secret Service raided Steve Jackson Games over GURPS Cyberpunk? Wonder how many more... "If we knew what we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?" -A Einstein |
Sargonarhes March 2, 2010 - 3:34pm | Who would have guessed actual FBI badges would have been bright orange and pink. In every age, in every place, the deeds of men remain the same. |
Mallak March 2, 2010 - 4:14pm | J. Edgar Hoover loved Bright Orange and Pink! |
Shadow Shack March 2, 2010 - 5:17pm | "Your tax dollars at work..." Just once, I really would like to see my tax dollars performing actual work... |

Will March 5, 2010 - 4:16pm | FBI never raided SJ Games, it was the Secret Service. Some say the raid was part of Operation Sun Devil, which was a multi-Federal agency strike against hackers nationwide, tho the Secret Service never said so either way(even if the timing was coincidental). Unlike the Tri-Tac raid, the Secret Service raid almost did in SJ Games(especially when they took vital computer equipment and books about to ship, plus the damage they did to the premises themselves),and though Jackson won his lawsuit on two of the three counts specified(violation of First and Fourth Amendment rights), he was unable to prove to the court's satisfaction that the raid did him any harm financially. He hasn't been right since. "You're everything that's base in humanity," Cochrane continued. Will March 5, 2010 - 4:23pm | Oh, and the Secret Service did look over the(now long out of print) GURPS Cyberpunk books they took from the offices(and, if memory serves, the notes on same on Lloyd Blankenship's comp before the raid), and all the agents could say was "wow, this is real." And, on the next Dr. Phil, Tinky-Winky comes out of the closet. He says he just can't take those harassing midnight phone calls from televangelists. And, on Jerry Springer, SpongeBob Squarepants and Patrick Starr admit to their secret love to the world. But, is there a love triangle, between them and Plankton?
