Just a shout out to all the SFers here, wishing a Happy Thanksgiving!

It's clear/sunny and 68º here, just got back from a brisk ride and will be firing up the grill soon for the annual "Shack Surf & Turf" Thanksgiving Feast.

Hope you enjoyed your feast and had a very happy Thanksgiving. Had turkey, mashed taters, gravy, green beans and bacon, stuffed mushrooms, burritos, pumpkin, banana cream and apple crumb pies*, along with a Three Stooges DVD.

Can't eat another bite....

*Not all at the same place, mind....

12 hours later, the temp has dropped 24 degrees to a clear star-lit crisp 44º. I left the corn on too long and it got overcooked (I utilized half the grill this time, it's a pretty big grill and that was a good amount of charcoal so the fire was a bit hotter than usual). The potato, filet, and lobster was more than enough to fill us both up and leave enough scraps for the cat and dog (the jury's still out if the cat will eat his or not).

Not to mention the instant lethargy that set in. We tried to stave it off with a bit of fresh air at 10:30, warming ourselves by the dying charcoals which still read just under 300º but to no avail, I conked out right around midnight...a full 4-6 hours earlier than usual. So I am now up from my little four hour nap, with a couple pics my wife snapped as I impatiently watched good food waiting to be gobbled:

I think I might take sojme steak out for tonight.

Other than the corn, it sounds like your Thanksgiving went off well, especially given the evening out under the stars(one nice thing about the desert is the view at night).

Visited with neighbors til ten, after I got home(where I managed to sample some Thanksgiving goodies)drank nice hot coffee(was 36 here, with no view of the stars, due to light pollution), and finally dropped off to sleep round one.

One of the better Thanksgivings I've had, tho if Christmas is going to be what I think it is(her family's going to be there), then I might be spending that at the Waffle House in Catoosa....

We're near the outskirts so the night skies look a bit nicer than downtown, where all the city lights blot out most of the view.

If you go about half a mile further from where I live, this is about the view you'll have of the Strip:

Note how those lights reflect off the cloud above...

Yeah, I noticed. Boy howdy, did I notice. Beautiful pic, Shadow, guess I have to add shutterbug to the list of wicked talents you've been hiding from us.

Sadly, two out of three of my 35mm camera components are on the fritz: the flash attachment connection is loose and the lens is jammed onto the camera base. It still works otherwise...but that pic was taken in such condition on a tripod holding the shutter open for about 4-5 seconds.

I love low-light photography, and it's something you need a really expensive digital camera to replicate (not that my 35mm didn't cost a small fortune back in the 1980s).

That, and it's getting tough to find film anymore LOL

A good, cheap digital camera can be had for around a hundred bucks at Wally World.

Just be ready to carry a club for all the idiot Xmas shoppers....

Still an awesome pic all in all.
