jedion357 August 30, 2009 - 8:35am | Recently created an NPC who, while a corporate EVP had a minor in horticulture and was a member of the Eden 2 Project. The Eden 2 Project was an organization whose purpose was to adapt life forms from earth to successfully thrive on other planets it was all tied into something to do with the NPC. However It got me thinking...dangerous I know. I suppose I could go way off the deep end with accounting for all the variables of introducing alien life to an ecosystem or we could just wave a hand and say the scientist are very carefull about this and often genetically re-engineer a life form for an environment. I'm of the stripe that humans in the SF setting really did come from Earth despite what the AD book said. And I liked the idea of the Yazerians emmigrating en-mass because their moon was going to crash into their planet and so they Yazeriformed Hentz to be as close as a match to the original homeworld. But even without those things in the setting it still stands to reason that the core 4 will indulge in some terra forming So I'm currious as to any work others have done in this area Obviously were talking about a wide variety of scientific disciplines terraforming genetic engineering species indroction and management I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
umungus August 30, 2009 - 9:44am | That is an interesting idea. I would think an adventure where the characters are getting involved in a terraforming project would have a lot of political problems. Such as environmentalists and citizens against it. megacorps trying to push the project to make creds'. factions trying to sabotage the whole works. At least I got to scare an alien rabbit thingy...... |
