Shadow Shack June 11, 2009 - 6:47pm | J, can you open a slot in / enable member access to the Documents section where I can upload my KH battle scenario for the Volturnus trilogy? This is the one I mentioned in another discussion about the Eorna discovering a cache of heavy fighters (along with a squadron of deactivated Mechanon fighters) that the Eorna pilot while the party serves as crew (technicians for engineering and gunners for the turret weapon and AR launcher assist), with the mission being to attack the Sathar troop transports that are attempting to recover their retreating troop shuttles. |
jedion357 June 12, 2009 - 5:53am | very cool shadow I didn't realize you were blocked from uploading I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jedion357 June 13, 2009 - 12:25pm | Hey Shadow, the deck plans for the eorna fighter extend off the page could you maybe create a PDF and upload as a mini module? this stuff should have been in the SFman zine. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Shadow Shack June 13, 2009 - 3:08pm | I'll redo the deck plan graphic so it fits. (it fits on my screen, although on IE6 the sidebar to the left ends up on top and you have to scroll down to the actual document). And when I'm finished transferring everything, it will be submitted to SFman. |
jedion357 June 13, 2009 - 4:58pm | Very cool, I've thought through the encounter and I think its well written and balanced. I'm currious as to how it plays. How many time have you played it and who won? I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Shadow Shack June 14, 2009 - 5:08am | Okay Game #1 is complete. now to get cracking on the deep space battle for Game #2. Very cool, I've thought through the encounter and I think its well written and balanced. I'm currious as to how it plays. How many time have you played it and who won? Thanks! I originally had the assault transports larger (HS:10) and played three test games, Volturnus forces struggled and came pretty close but failed each time. I also substituted the weapons and defenses, the initial heavy fighter had three assault rockets while the freighters ahd ICMs, four salvos of FFRs gave the more time in space but a lesser chance of hitting (no head on bonuses with the FFR) and slightly less damage (2d10 instead of 2d10+4), and I nixxed the ICMs since they're pretty worthless against rocket salvos (-3/ICM) and swapped in masking screens. I reduced the assault transport size and coinciding shuttle requirements, and it became a much closer game for the one session I played (it was a draw, but the Eorna fighters had a slightly easier time destoying the troop transports). I'll run a few more sessions with the finished product before submitting the game to SFman, feel free to run a few yourself and let me know how it fares. Tactics also play a big part...Eorna fighters could work well in waves: launch two per turn and fly sorties so there's always one squadron in space while others are rearming or taking off/landing...but then they become more susceptible to attack with only two flying at a time. It's a challenge no matter how you slice it, which makes it a fun game. Meanwhile the Mechanon fighters can be used in a variety of foils: #1 with a bullet being attacking shuttles before they reach their destinations (the Sathar will never reach their goal of recovery so it ends as a draw at the worst). Or they could be utilized while Eorna fighters are rearming. Since the Mech-fighters do not require rearming, they fly until they die. P.S. anyone catch the acronym for the Mech fighter? |
