Imperial Lord May 31, 2009 - 8:09pm | The 2nd pic is really wild - hard to believe it is not some artist's drawing or something. |
Will June 1, 2009 - 4:09pm | It's an HST image, prolly just cleaned up some. Way cool. "You're everything that's base in humanity," Cochrane continued. aramis June 1, 2009 - 7:47pm | Many Hubble images have false color; the spectrum is compressed often, or IR shifted to visible, etc. I suspect that's the case of the second... |
beowulf June 1, 2009 - 7:50pm | Now just superimpose some of Art's ships onto these photos. |

TerlObar June 1, 2009 - 9:04pm | I can almost guarantee the second and fourth one are art, not HST images or from any other telescope/satellite. The others are all real images, however. My wife used to work for (and still collaborates with) the guy at the Space Telescope Science Institute who is responsible for the Hubble Heritage program that puts out a lot of these images. Ascent June 11, 2009 - 8:48pm | The second and fourth ones ARE artist renderings. They're good, but those are not hubble images. A planet would never stay in the same place long enough to get that clear of an image in time laps photography (It would be an elongated blur) and those clouds in the fourth would be smoothed out for the same reason (That and I can see where the clouds in the fourth have been clone stamped). jedion357 June 12, 2009 - 6:54am | I scrounged a lot of images from NASA and Google Earth after google earth added the ability to turn your perspective to look at the stars from the spot on earth that your hovering over. Unfortunately I saved them all into large files without very good labels indicating where they came from. I'm sure some of the art came from NASA, but I hope you enjoy them and I encourage all to scrounge images Like I have.
