Gergmaster July 5, 2008 - 8:20am | Hey guys I have an idea for the zine. Many of our submissions are low. If we cut back on submissions for say actuall gaming articles you we could stockpile the articles for an issue. To replace the issues every now and agains maybe we could do special starfrontiersman issues. Things like mini-modules, stories, or whatever. I have noticed this is done in a lot of webzines in order to allow the zine to obtain more articles for an issue. See if you like this idea. I will talk to CCR about it and see what he thinks. This could help get your fix of SF more often.... Confucious Says: Man with one chopstick go hungry. Man who eat many prunes get good run for money. Will July 5, 2008 - 8:45am | Might work. "You're everything that's base in humanity," Cochrane continued. "Drawing up strict, senseless rules for the sole reason of putting you at the top and excluding anyone you say doesn't belong or fit in, for no other reason than just because you say so." —Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stephens, Federation |
umungus July 7, 2008 - 3:02pm | Not sure I follow you. Starfrontiersman has all those things in it already. There is a problem with people working on materials. At least I got to scare an alien rabbit thingy...... |
Gergmaster July 7, 2008 - 5:09pm | Well if we have a specific type of issue one month we can always give people the chance to work on other game related materials. It would be allowing Bill to have more time in getting submissions for the actual issues. A lot of Podcasts and webzines do this in order to help get better material for actual shows or webzine issues. Confucious Says: Man with one chopstick go hungry. umungus July 8, 2008 - 9:13am | So, an issue would have a specific topic? At least I got to scare an alien rabbit thingy...... |
w00t (not verified) September 15, 2009 - 10:07am | He is saying that we could publish an Issue that was a re-publication of past articles. I'll use #13 as an example. Issue: 13 Title: For a Pocket Full of Creds! Topics: All gear from issue 1 - 12 Note: This issue will contain all equipment submitted to the webzine including Character, Vehicle and Spaceship equipment along with corrections, tables and clarifications. Benefit: All equipment will be located in one book. No more searching for that perfect pistol! Gergmaster - good idea. |

Benefit: All equipment will be located in one book. No more searching for that perfect pistol! Gergmaster - good idea. how about a special edition? not an issue of the zine but a Frontiersman Equipment Guide #1 its a special issue and it would contain all the equipment todate so as to not burn out the editor we'll just substitute it into the regular publication schedule for next Feburary? Post Script: this actually might be an easy project as there is probably files on all the articles floating around and this could be a easy job but I dont know. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
w00t (not verified) December 3, 2010 - 9:46pm | Issue 16, will have all A.D., K.H. and Star Frontiersman equipment listed after the classifieds. It's 11 pages. |
jedion357 December 4, 2010 - 1:25am | No I was thinking that we could do an equipment guide and collect all the equipment from all the zine issues currently published as a special publication. Call it the Frontiersman Equipment Guide or whatever. I bet it would be well recieved. Nothing new, no new writing other than a note from the editor. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
w00t (not verified) December 4, 2010 - 8:22pm | Per our phone conversation I agree. We should categorize the equipment, put them in tables and add the descriptions. |
Rum Rogue December 4, 2010 - 9:05pm | That would be a very nifty idea. There have been several times I have started that project, but I dont have the proper programs to do that. Time flies when your having rum. Im a government employee, I dont goof-off. I constructively abuse my time. |
w00t (not verified) December 4, 2010 - 9:27pm | There have been several times I have started that project, but I dont have the proper programs to do that. Thanks to Dominic I have all the gear in tables, I just need descriptions added. It's tedious work, basically you copy from the PDF's to Google Docs (or Notepad, Open Office, Works, Word, etc) and paste, then send to whoever is doing the layout. If 3-4 of us work on this it wouldn't take that long. Maybe first of next year, right now I've got to get out Issue 16. |
jedion357 December 4, 2010 - 9:28pm | There's been an article submitted that is a set of tables for AD, KH and all SFmans equipment items but without discriptions so I dont want to poop on a fellow contributer parrade too close to his article being in the SFman thus I suggested to woot that we plan and ultimate equipment guide for late next year that will include all equipment from all sources.- AD, KH, Zebs (converted from the column shift to AD), SFman and anything from Dragon and polygon as well as the modules (Dark Side of the Moon has at least 1 new gadget) make it a special release and format it like a sears robuck catalog for the Frontier. there will be tables and discriptions as well as what the source for the item was There is obviously work involved but no real writing needs to be done I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
