I'm starting a new game on the new Star Frontiers Network web site. It will be a play by post style game. You can link directly to the game forum here http://starfrontiers.info/forum/viewforum.php?f=8 or go to the main site (http://starfrontiers.info) and follow the links to the forums. Here is the short blurb describing the game.

Obar Enterprises is looking for highly skilled beings to join its Troubleshooting Department. Must be willing to relocate, travel and be out of contact for extended periods of time. Do you crave adventure? Are you self-motivated, aggressive and imaginative? Can you work as part of a small, independent team with minimal oversight? Do you like working for a small company with mega-corp benefits? If so, this may be your dream job.

For more information, or to apply, contact Obar Entrerprises, Pale Station, Truane's Star.

(The above is a classified ad appearing in the next Starfrontiersman issue.)

This campaign is aimed at advanced AD characters that have just acquired their first KH skill (see the Character Generation Guidlines for full details.) The adventure will begin at the Obar Enterprises office on Triad station orbiting Triad in the Cassidine system.

We've got four players so far (2 pilots, an engineer and a rocket gunner).  We can take up to four more and are still looking for at least an astrogator and would like to get an energy gunner as well  (They could also use a medicWink).  We will be starting play on July 14th so come on over and get your character rolled up.

Terl, the time issue is working okay now but now everytime I try to post I get this:

You cannot make another post so soon after your last.

I suspect that this is a side effect of fixing the time. There are times stored in your profile saying the last time you were on and posted was at 12:02 pm today your time. I suspect that after that the message will go away. I think I've found the relevant places in the database and fixed it. Give it another go if you get the chance.  I also suggest that you select the "Delete all board cookies" link at the bottom of the page just to be sure everything gets cleared out before you log in.

We're up to six characters but still need an astrogator.  Any takers?  Come join the fun.

I'm having trouble accessing the forum (today and yesterday), it's really bogging down when I can get in. Just tried posting a reply and it went to a 404 message and I can't get back in.

The site was down quite a bit yesterday as I was attempting to move it to the new computer that will permenantly host it.  However, after getting it installed and running the system crashed and burned (literally, something fried on the motherboard).  So I had to move it back to the old computer.  The slowness may have been due to a bad network connection which I believe I've fixed now.  Give it another try and let me know if there are any more problems.

Three of our players (umgungus, cliff & estradling) have dropped out so if anyone (including the original owners Smile) is interested in picking up those characters, drop on over and let us know.  The party is in the middle of a major firefight at the moment trying to retake a company mining camp from pirates.

For those of you playing in this game, I'm going to try to reactivate it effective immediately.  For those of you not playing but who want to follow along or possibly join in, drop on over and lurk.

Here's a link to the Obar Enterprises game forum to jump there directly.

If you have time perhaps you could keep a rolling blog.
Then we could submit it as a game report to the magazine.
Plus blogs/game reports are easier to follow than a bunch of forum posts, imo.

/begin opinion/
I would rather play online using GameTable (or whatever) than play-by-post. Online is instantly rewarding - pbp drags on too long for me.
/end opinion/

Do you have time to start your online game? I think it was the same name, we were employee's of Obar.

Time is the one thing I lack.  I've tried "live" on-line games (both as player and Referee) and I've yet to see them really work out since we can't all get together.  I agree they would be better, but no, I don't have the time, at least not right now, to dedicate a 3-5 hour block of time.  I wish I did.  The best I can do is an hour here, a half hour there.  Which is why the PBP format works for me.  It's not as fast but it's better than nothing.

As to a running blog, maybe  I'm planning to start blogging more, so this will probably happen if I can get my act together.

PBP has two main advantages over live play.
  1. Deeper role playing. IMHO, live-action play tends to only scratch the surface of most characters. In PBP, you have time to dig in a little deeper and figure out what makes your character tick, and what your character's flaws are.
  2. Smaller time footprint. Ten minutes here, half an hour there, that's all that's required to keep a game going.
Of course, the one big disadvantage is the time it takes waiting for everyone to post their actions. A single turn can last a week or more. This can be accounted for if the GM is willing to lay down the law that anyone who doesn't post in X amount of days will have their character NPC'd for that turn.

As for the blog, I know that Terl is a bit overcommitted to projects now. Perhaps one of the players could assume those duties?

His is just a 'heads up' over here that if the players are interested, I'd like to restart this game.  I've posted the next bit of the action on the game's site.  If there's not enough interest, I'll probably shut it down in favor of other things going on, including possibly a live game.  However, if we get 3 or 4 of the current 8 players still interested we'll keep the game alive.

If we do end up shutting down the game, I'll probably start up a new one with a different focus/theme.

@Terl: Are we still short players or can my character be so friggin awesome that he (she, it) fills in the missing spots just by being so friggin awesome? BTW, can 'friggin awesome' be my PSA?

I can contact my brother, who was playing Gren, to see if he's still interested in playing. His online time is consistently inconsistent and he might be willing to give Gren up.

@Captain Rags:  The game is techncially full at the moment, if everyone shows up.  However, we're almost at the end of an adventure segment and there will be an opportunity to swap out characters if some of the current players don't show back up or are no longer interested.

Roger roger Terl! ! Just let me & Mr. Georgie know when your current PCs suffer catastrophic mission failure and meet their inevitable horribly screaming demise... I mean (coughs), let us know when there's a couple of spots open. Kiss
