CleanCutRogue August 13, 2007 - 7:18pm | haha... You can't second this... you Firsted it. I put it here cuz of you Actually - I did some work on this. What I *could* do as a solution is maybe provide a checkbox in your user profile to use a wider, fixed-screen. Right now the site's entire window is in 960 pixels, allowing a 32 pixel border on each side for 95% of our viewers (a made-up statistic that's probably pretty close). Most people are at 1024x768. My webstats collect that info on my other site (along with the fact that 79% of you are using either Netscape or Firefox rather than IE... surprising, that). So... if I provide a checkbox for a wider presentation, how wide should it be? My screen is a freakish 1680 wide, but I think that's pretty unusual. What is yours? 3. SmootRK August 14, 2007 - 8:19pm | my resolution is 1280x800 on my laptop, but I also view things on a desktop that keeps 1280x1024... I don't think the top/bottom dimension is much to worry about. Scrolling is inevitable for forums. <insert witty comment here> |
CleanCutRogue August 15, 2007 - 7:33am | I'll work on making a "wide-screen" checkbox and a second set of CSS options that are dynamically used if your checkbox is set. It'll take some time and if other issues come up that are more pressing I'll have to leave this and come back to it, so it won't be quick. I'll work on a style that maintains a 1216 pixel width (so the same 32 pixel left/right border will exist as was designed for 1024 screens). I don't worry about the height at all. I will probably use this feature too :-) 3. We wear sungoggles during the day. Not because the sun affects our
