CleanCutRogue November 7, 2007 - 7:15pm | Sweet! 3. We wear sungoggles during the day. Not because the sun affects our
vision, but when you're cool like us the sun shines all the time. |
Corjay (not verified) November 7, 2007 - 7:19pm | Right on. You've really treated those well. Nice. |
Full Bleed November 7, 2007 - 7:52pm | Ahhh, yes! Back in the good 'ole days when toys were actually made of lead instead of just being painted with it! ;) I've got the following sets, most of which have not been used: Player Characters Sathar Ships Federation Ships Privateers Robots Does anyone have a comprehensive list of all SF mini's ever released? I know there were a number of other box sets... but I have no idea how many blister packs there were. |
Corjay (not verified) November 7, 2007 - 8:10pm | Go to the following page for a complete list (includes some Gamma World) at starfrontiers.com: http://www.starfrontiers.com/miniatures/ |
beowulf November 7, 2007 - 10:37pm | A "metallic red" sathar heavy cruiser will be my next project. Metallic paints help simulate the reflective hull defense. I may add some minor details later, but the solid metallic look is so good that I don't want to change it much. A red/yellow glow paint inside the rear of the engine nozzles would be nice. |
Full Bleed November 8, 2007 - 2:39am | http://www.starfrontiers.com/miniatures/ Wow, that list doesn't jive with all of the SF sets listed on the back of the box sets I have. I guess those other sets never came out? Anyway, I just scored the following to help complete my collection: 5802 Funnel Worm & Kornarrs (1 & 2) 5803 Winged Ripper & Sand Shark ( 2 & 1) 5806 Quickdeath (2) |

Full Bleed November 8, 2007 - 9:37am | Well, I don't have any of the sets in question. Here is the list of sets listed on the back of the Federation and Sathar Ships sets: Player Characters Monsters Federation Ships Sathar Ships Scout Car Kit Grav Tank Kit Self-Propelled Cannon Kit Robots Earthmen Yazirians, Vrusk & Dralasites Sathar The ones in bold are on his list. The other sets are not. Sets on his list but not printed elsewhere on the above sets: Spacefarers Privateer Starships And none of his blister packs appear on the box sets. So I was just wondering if any of those other sets ever came out or if his list is the comprehensive list of released SF miniatures. I suppose it's possible that the Yazirian, Vrusk & Dralasites, Earthmen, and Sathar sets could have been scaled back and folded into the Spacefarers set. And the Monsters set could have been broken into the blister packs. But there is still no mention of the Kits. |
Corjay (not verified) November 8, 2007 - 10:18am | Grav Tank Kit Self-Propelled Cannon Kit |
Full Bleed November 8, 2007 - 8:15pm | After looking around a bit, I have yet to find a place that has any of the mystery sets/kits. I'm fairly certain that they must have never come out. There are various Grav Tank models/minis for other games and even some Self-Propelled Cannons (not sci-fi) that I've seen... but nothing specifically SF related. Looks like his list is complete. |
Malcadon November 11, 2007 - 5:29pm | To bad nobody produce SF minis anymore. The ships look nice, and I would love to find some of the classic SF/GW Grenadier minis (mostly for my Gamma World game). |
spyder April 8, 2011 - 1:10am | Hello Everyone I have posted some photos of my re-production Federation ships I cast. All re-production ships are cast in plastic, equally detailed, hold paint, and are the same scale as original production ships. I am willing to make these miniatures available for sale and will cast on a per order basis. The re-productions are made from plastic as to not devalue the after market sale of the original miniatures, and to prevent unscrupulous individuals from passing them off as vintage miniatures. These miniatures are perfect for more affordable fleet building or modifying to make dead ship OBJ markers ( i have included 2 example photos). One ships name has been changed for ordering purposes. The original "destroyer" will be referred to as a "light cruiser". The ship that is between Old destroyer and frigate size is referred to as the "destroyer", and the ship that is one size smaller than the "battleship" is called the "Heavy Cruiser". If sales of this production are popular I will create or reproduce other miniatures at a later date. until then these are what I have available for casting. Stands are not included, miniatures come unpainted, color of plastic will very. Payments excepted with PayPal only. Refunds on return of merchandise. Price: Assault Scout $1.00 Frigate $1.00 Destroyer $2.50 Light Cruiser $2.50 Heavy Cruiser $5.00 Battleship $5.00 Shipping as always depends on your location and size of order. Please feel free to contact me at cj750spyder@yahoo.com |
AZ_GAMER April 5, 2011 - 5:15pm | Thats awesome! I have been working with a rapid prototyping company in France to produce miniatures and I cant come anywhere close to your prices at original scale. I certainly hope the community will purchase them as these prices cannot be beat. I certainly would like to buy a set and look forward to finding them when you place them for sale. |
jedion357 April 5, 2011 - 6:03pm | Like your product and would be very interested in buying engines- I had a battleship that was besot with lead rot but not its engines so all my painted frigates got 2 engines a piece like your light cruiser- Its a personal preference that I feel matches the actual rules better to depict the frigates with engines suppose I could just buy extra and cut the engines off as well. The destroyer, as you've painted it looks like it could be and escort carrier I have resin model of the orginial Battlestar Galactica I picked up at Historicon to fill in the roll in my UPF fleet as a heavy carrier then I turned around and picked up two cylon base ships as well- mechanons need ships too after all. But anyone I'd be very interested in carrier designs. and since your crafting things to look like they all came from the same shipyard that is one of the things I look for. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
spyder April 5, 2011 - 7:45pm | Thank you. Az gamer if you would like to place an order just email me, let me know wich ones and how many of each you would like. Paypal excepted I cast them then get them out to you depending on the size of the order it wont take long to mail them. Also there is no minimum order. Jedion357 If you would like to order some engines I can cast as many as you need and will sell them to you at $1.00 for 8 engines. Just let me know. |
iggy April 5, 2011 - 8:05pm | Spyder, I cast white metal miniatures and have made a few custom RTV molds of my own work. I have been led to believe that resin slowly eats the RTV rubber. Are you using RTV rubber? Have you seen resin degrade the RTV mold? What source do you get your RTV from? -iggy |
spyder April 5, 2011 - 8:31pm | Iggy Yes, eventually I will have to make new molds as with any molds in any medium I have used, over a course in time they need to be replaced. As for supplies I search the web and locally for best price. |

w00t (not verified) April 8, 2011 - 5:49am | With AZ and spyder's work we could build an unstoppable fleet of plastic! Muhahaaha! |
AZ_GAMER April 8, 2011 - 7:17pm | Does the plastic need primer. I know its always a good idea, however some plastics hold paint really well without any primer. |
AZ_GAMER April 8, 2011 - 7:21pm | btw, we do need a new minelayer if you are looking for ideas for a new project. |
spyder April 8, 2011 - 8:08pm | Plasic holds auto primer. Me... I just coat it in black acrylic "Ceramcoat" as a primer. Let it dry, dont handle to much wile painting and finish with a clear laquer. Gloss or flat is all prefferance. Yes. I am working on ship prototype curently have a working model of what I would call a Super carrier (much bigger than a battle ship) for both Sathar and FED. Will be working on minelayer and others in time. The thing aboat the Super carrier is i feel it works more realistic for the fighters im useing and realisticly as how I would imagine one with large working areas runway, and room for other work areas... but when it comes to making workable models you have to go with will I be able to make a good mold to cast it and can I carve what im thinking about, or will a kitbash work. I have a photo of my Sathar fleet with prototype "Super Carrier", I may change engines to match the battle ship and I rushed, the bridge may change to be the same as the sathar Heavy Cruiser. |
tdrahusz April 9, 2011 - 10:22am | I love using miniatures for my games. Keep it up! I would buy those ships. |
Stelk September 4, 2012 - 11:36pm | so what ever happened to these minitures, can they still be purchased? I will email the artist soon, but was curious if anyone knows first. Cogito ergo sum; I think therefore I am. Batty [Blade Runner] I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die. |
SF_DM_Dave_G January 20, 2024 - 12:55pm | So this thread is from about a dozen years ago... I'm guessing that spyder isn't necessarily casting in plastic and selling anymore. (Especially since I tried to send an e-mail and it bounced immediately.) Too bad; I'd be happy to buy some re-production ships like the ones posted here. Sigh; I got back into Star Frontiers too late, I guess. Enjoying Star Frontiers off & on since 1982! A very verbose log of my group's adventures so far...: https://davegweb.wordpress.com/ |
