Corvus October 17, 2007 - 11:16pm | I second this one, it should be in one of the two locations Corjay suggested. If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. -- Carl Sagan |
CleanCutRogue October 18, 2007 - 4:20am | wow if you two agree on something then it must be true haha.... I agree, and have thought about this as well. I will leave it there, but will make an additional button on the front page of each project when it's viewed alone (not in the massive lists of projects, just when you go to that project). 3. We wear sungoggles during the day. Not because the sun affects our

Corvus October 18, 2007 - 4:50am | Why leave it on the Members page, though? If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. -- Carl Sagan |
CleanCutRogue October 18, 2007 - 8:43am | a few reasons. 1) code is already written why delete it. 2) project managers have a lot of other membership-related rights in the member page. It's generally where someone can kick someone from a project (or even ban them) and send announcements to all members. Site Referees have other rights. It makes sense in all those situations. Why leave it on the Members page, though? Besides, what's the harm in having it in more than one place? :-) 3. We wear sungoggles during the day. Not because the sun affects our

Corvus October 18, 2007 - 9:52am | Besides, what's the harm in having it in more than one place? :-) I think the word I'm looking for is "elegance". It's like feeding chicken soup to a dead guy -- what's it gonna hurt? Not much, but it's still a silly thing to do. Corjay (not verified) October 18, 2007 - 11:44am | I don't have a problem with keeping a copy of the button on the Members page as long as there's one in a much more obvious place. |
Corvus October 18, 2007 - 12:07pm | So long as the button is on the front page, yeah, it doesn't really do much harm. Bill could install a Request Membership button in his bathroom for all I care. I just think it's more elegant to remove the one from the Members list, as that's not where people are going to think to look for a button to join the project. CleanCutRogue October 18, 2007 - 12:10pm | Besides, what's the harm in having it in more than one place? :-) I think the word I'm looking for is "elegance". It's like feeding chicken soup to a dead guy -- what's it gonna hurt? Not much, but it's still a silly thing to do. Do ya really think it in-elegant to have versitile options? I can remove it from the membership tab... I don't really have a problem with that. I just thought it made sense when grouped with all the other options there for membership cancellations and banning and annoucements. So what do you all think? Membership page having the button too is bad? 3. We wear sungoggles during the day. Not because the sun affects our

CleanCutRogue October 18, 2007 - 12:19pm | I can see your point, Corvus, and I'll remove it from the members page. I guess what I meant for that page was a Membership page, not just a list of Members... I guess I titled it improperly and didn't think it through clearly. Consider it gone :-) Project Managers will still use that page, however, to cancel or ban members or to send site announcements. 3. We wear sungoggles during the day. Not because the sun affects our

Corvus October 18, 2007 - 9:15pm | I can see your point, Corvus Well, it was more Corjay's point and I was just backing him on the play. It only occurs to me now, of course, that the best reason not to have one on that tab is that the person who's going to be using the options on that tab isn't going to need to request membership in the first place. *snicker* But yeah, when you're done installing the coffee maker in the laundry room, I need to talk to you about the DVD player in my closet... (I kid because I care, naturally.) Anyway, looks great now! If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. -- Carl Sagan |
