Shadow Shack October 11, 2007 - 5:08pm | I have been working on some generic rulings for ground vehicles. So far play testing they worked out (some hovercycle examples were seen in my Space Pirates PBP game: http://spacepirates.forumup.org/viewtopic.php?t=38&start=0&mforum=spacepirates ), still need some finalizations though. In a nut shell, rather than having simply one groudn car available on the 27 known worlds (of the Alpha Dawn Frontier map) I figured on breaking them down by size and style, with performance modifications accordingly. So there would be smaller two and four seater sport ground cars and larger six passenger luxury hovercars, and even the larger vehicles would benefit (transports and explorers) with the standard (as listed in AD) along with smaller versions (like a pick-up truck) up to heavy duty versions (such as a track mobile chassis explorer that holds up to 12 occupants). |

Shadow Shack October 13, 2007 - 4:16am | The four hoverbikes in Space Pirates were a trial run of the original system I penned, which unfortunately was simply hovercycle specific. Too busy, and I would have had to rewrite a ton of other rules for the other vehicles. My current project is much more streamlined, applying to all ground vehicles with two simple categories that affect performance & price: size (small, intermediate, medium, large, & heavy) and type (luxury, sport, standard, dual purpose {aka off road capable}, etc). Hence, any combination can be possible with varying performance and price alterations. I've been futzing around with it and drumming up all sorts of variations, and I like the results. It should give the game more flavor, after all if you have a skimmer and the bad guys have a skimmer and they both perform the same...how will you ever catch it? |

Shadow Shack October 17, 2007 - 6:11pm | Can someone tell me the proper coding for making a table? I need 8 categories across (top speed, cruise speed, accel, decel, turn speed, passengers, cargo, and cost). Or is there something int he text editor that does this? |
Shadow Shack October 17, 2007 - 7:11pm | Test ---
Kinda sloppy, but it worked...any tips to make it look nicer? |
w00t (not verified) October 17, 2007 - 8:18pm | Use this icon to insert a table and give it a border of 1. you can use your mouse to size the colums and such, all the icons to the right of this one are for editing rows and such. that help? |
