jedion357 March 3, 2022 - 11:27am | inspired by this So this COACC traveller book lists stats for multiple tech levels of air craft. I sure stats can be cobbled together for bi planes in a star frontier setting My question is how might we work bi-planes into an adventure? I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Shadow Shack March 3, 2022 - 5:54pm | Like any vintage-future vehicle, one obstacle is internal combustion vs electric propulsion. A lot of the vintage IC vehicles in my game will smoke their more modern electric counterparts in terms of performance. That said, in no way should an IC bi-plane approach AirCar grade performance. Maybe JetCopter cruise speeds (sans the jet portion)...as vintage WW1 biplanes never even hit 100mph and with all the aerodynamic drag created by tandem wings it's tough with modern engines without going back to airframe design stages and starting from scratch. |
jedion357 March 9, 2022 - 10:03am | Stats and performance is never really an issue- work up stats informed by historic stats and in comparison with existing vehicles in the setting So lets imagine Ruperts Hole as an adventure location ag colony light population- the big bad jumps in a crop duster to escape. At the same air port is some reproductions bi-planes and tri-planes but no other modern air vehicles. The reproductions have laser tag type mechanisms inside their fake machine guns. Players can jump into a bi or tri plane to pursue but will have to maneuver close enogh to use hand weapons. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
