like this design for early in history very nice.

maybe even write in some history that it's success during the SW1 lead to the assault scout design for the UPF

what I'm not a fan of is the name. Gunned Scout
its descriptive for sure but I feel like it needs a class name

doesn't even need to be a "scout" could be something like PGC Interdictor class gunboat
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

In fact I like this design a lot. would make an excellant 2 page ship submission in a magazine if we had one.

one critique on the design: all crew station chairs should face forward so as to be in best alignment with thrust for example the engineer station could be moved to the 12 to 3 oclock postion in that cabin and the chair could then face forward. and the gunner's station? behind the co-pilot? could similarly be reoriented to face forward. this is a small detail but that would be the only criticism I have right now.

But still I like this design.

I just added a synopsis that mentions the tie with the WarTech assault scout.

I didn't want to plaiarize Traveller with the use of "gunboat" and "gunned scout" is a term I've used for years to describe non-Assault Scout scout ships.

Re: the bridge command chairs --- the two front seats are fixed, the rear pair are swivel chairs so that under acceleration they lock forward and in zero-G coasting they can be rotated freely. The front pair are occupied by the pilot (left) and co-pilot/rocket gunner (right), the engineer is behind the pilot and the astrogator is behind the co-pilot. The engineering station is a zero-G duty center but in emergency situations the swivel seat also locks forward for acceleration.

It should also be noted that thanks to the excessive fuel capacity, the ship could feasibly make it pretty close to 1%C if utilizing the entire supply for acceleration. Granted it would never be able to slow down again though. ;)
I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out

Gun boat is a real world term not something Traveller owns. Unless traveller was owned by Colonial Chrome then if you shyte resembled a traveller ship you might be threatened with a lawsuit.

What about System Scout? and when some were eventually requipped with atomics they took the designation Stellar Scout.

of course with the horizontal deck plan atomics would be problematic. and perhaps this lead to the Wartech AS

The implications of this ship is starports with runways for landing and take off of this style of ship. Hard to say how long that should be. I suppose the NASA shuttle could be used as a rule of thumb.

How about Strike Scout or Striker Scout, or maybe Scout/Intruder

Its your ship so ultimately you should decide. I am partial to the less militaristic names though, System Scout and Stellar Scout. Did PGC wish to seem militaristic at that point in history?

Much like the Volturnus trilogy, PGC was merely attempting to usurp Streel through various outlets. Mining Guild in the historic pre-megacorp era, hiring the Star Devils during post UPF founding. Corporate War without the war. ;)

As such I'm leaning toward "Scout/Intruder".
