Shadow Shack March 16, 2018 - 11:27am | Very simple rules. You may source any of the official/published TSR products for the game: modules, rule books, maps, counters, Referee Screen, miniatures...nothing fanzine (Dragon, etc), house rule, or non-licensed products. Ask a trivia question based on those resources, if someone answers correctly the person asking the question confirms the answer via where it was sourced and the person answering gets to field the next question. For example, you could ask "What is PGC?" and source any of the various references in the rules and/or modules for the answer. We'll start this off with the following question: "Who is Grobber Jaloub?" |
Shadow Shack March 24, 2018 - 8:41pm | When are players permitted to decide what an NPC does (i.e. reactions etc)? |
Shadow Shack March 26, 2018 - 7:56pm | It's been nearly 48hrs so I'll drop a hint: this too is also rather Basic...

JCab747 March 27, 2018 - 6:32am | It's been nearly 48hrs so I'll drop a hint: this too is also rather Basic... When are players permitted to decide what an NPC does (i.e. reactions etc)? I shall look it up and respond soon. I was hoping to give someone else a chance... perhaps people are on Easter break and not checking the website. Joe Cabadas |
jedion357 March 28, 2018 - 8:35am | My head is not in the game. Lots going on. Great Idea Shadow shack. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
JCab747 March 28, 2018 - 3:47pm | My head is not in the game. Lots going on. Great Idea Shadow shack. Oh, Jedion, you're letting us down! OK, I'll answer the question finally. I was really hoping not to be the only one doing this of late. From the Basic Rulebook, page 8, under "Reactions" At some time, a player character may want to talk to a shopkeeper, pedestrian or other charcter that is not being controlled by another player (such characters are called non-player characters or NPCs). The player must determine the NPC's response... Say, now, shouldn't that be the referee or reader, as I think TSR called the game master in the Basic Book... If the player rolls his character's Personality score or less on d100 the NPC will be friendly and cooperative. If the player rolls greater than the character's score, the NPC will be uninterested or unfriendly. In either case,k the players must decide what the NPC will do. Joe Cabadas |
JCab747 March 28, 2018 - 7:59pm | Well, if I can assume my answer is correct, I'll throw out this preliminary trivia question: What is Blirdor's talent and how does Blirdor use it? Joe Cabadas |
Shadow Shack March 28, 2018 - 7:59pm | My thoughts as well. I caught that paradox for the first time while searching for a question. Joe is correct and up for the next Q. |
JCab747 March 28, 2018 - 8:03pm | My thoughts as well. I caught that paradox for the first time while searching for a question. Joe is correct and up for the next Q. Ah, our posts crossed each other. Joe Cabadas |
Shadow Shack March 29, 2018 - 10:06am | So I see LOL The Q is live:
What is Blirdor's talent and how does Blirdor use it? |
Shadow Shack March 31, 2018 - 10:02pm |
What is Blirdor's talent and how does Blirdor use it? I'm not finding this, if this is a SF:5 or SF:6 reference I don't have those and someone else will have to field it. |
JCab747 April 1, 2018 - 7:19am | OK. Let me give a hint. I think the adventure, or at least its title, is inspired by a Pink Floyd song. Joe Cabadas |
Shadow Shack April 1, 2018 - 12:05pm | Yep, I don't have that one. |
JCab747 April 1, 2018 - 2:07pm | try starfrontiers.com. It still has PDFs of the modules that you can download. Joe Cabadas |
TerlObar April 2, 2018 - 1:25pm | Blirdor has a latent mind power which interacts with it's lie dection abliity, allowing it to imporove the odds when gambling. He uses it to make a living as a professional gambler. It manifests in the game set up in the rules by giving him a +25 on his rolls. Ad Astra Per Ardua! He uses it to make a living as a professional gambler. It manifests in the game set up in the rules by giving him a +25 on his rolls. Correct. And, it's from the Dark Side of the Moon. Joe Cabadas |
iggy April 5, 2018 - 9:55pm | Alcazzar's rotational period is a trick question. The sum of the day, night, and two transitional periods is 10,000 hours GST. Alcazzar is almost tidally locked to it's orbit around Rhiannna of 10,000 hours GST. This is a very Tom Stevens kind of question. -iggy |
TerlObar April 6, 2018 - 12:54pm | Correct Ad Astra Per Ardua! My blog - Expanding Frontier Webmaster - The Star Frontiers Network & this site Founding Editor - The Frontier Explorer Magazine Managing Editor - The Star Frontiersman Magazine |

iggy April 10, 2018 - 12:17am | Who built the star ship Osprey II? -iggy |
Shadow Shack April 15, 2018 - 12:56pm | Wasn't "Osprey II" the UPF rebadging of the Sathar Scout Ship from the Beyond the Frontier modules? If so, the Sathar built it. P.S. apologies for my lacking participation in my own thread...I started an exciting new new job and as such my free time has been restricted. |
JCab747 April 15, 2018 - 1:02pm | P.S. apologies for my lacking participation in my own thread...I started an exciting new new job and as such my free time has been restricted. I understand about jobs. You may be right about this one. I didn't want to answer it to give someone else a chance at it. Joe Cabadas |
iggy April 16, 2018 - 12:14am | I don't believe the sathar built the Osprey II. -iggy |
JCab747 April 16, 2018 - 4:33am | Yes, I was just looking at the War Machine module, though not indepth. The Sathar scout is not called the Osprey II. Joe Cabadas |
TerlObar April 16, 2018 - 7:22pm | It was built by the Mhemne, two years after the Beyond the Frontier modules are concluded. It, along with it's sister ship, the Eleanor Moraes II, were the first two interstellar capable ships built by the Mhemne. Next question: What do the natives of Mahg Mar cultivate? Ad Astra Per Ardua! My blog - Expanding Frontier Webmaster - The Star Frontiers Network & this site Founding Editor - The Frontier Explorer Magazine Managing Editor - The Star Frontiersman Magazine |
JCab747 April 18, 2018 - 7:41pm | Since I will assume TerlObar's answer is to Iggy's question is 1000% correct (yes, a bit of hyperbole there), I will now answer his question... again, I was hoping others would jump in. This isn't a bad topic... From "Face of the Enemy," page 7, Gamma .1 Entering the Village: The Notui, who are the natives of Mahg Mar have shellters constructed from wooden frames and woven vines... "Dense plant growth is cultivated on the wood-and-vine frameworks, providing insulation and windbreak." Joe Cabadas |
iggy April 18, 2018 - 10:59pm | TerlObar is correct about the Osprey II. -iggy |
