What an air transport should look like

I stumbled across an author's website (Ryk Brown) for a series he calls "The Frontier Saga."

I've only skimmed over his posts, but it was his conceptual art that I was intrigued with.

Instead of the blocky Zeb's version of an air transport, I'd say this one from Ryk Brown would more fit the bill of what a Star Frontiers air transport should be:

Sorry, I am trying to get the image to fit in the window.

Still seems rather brick-like to me. I'd always imagined them as more like big aircars, at least with ducted fans of some sort rather than jet nozzles.

While it looks light years better than the Bodycomp illustration that was published in Zeb's (oh, wait...THAT was an air transport?!?), my only reservation is Winnebago wheels instead of skids.
I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out

I was thinking Panzers from R Tal's old Cyberpunk 2020, which is pretty much the same thing.

Like that one
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

I like that one too. It's more SF like.

I tend to see them using ducted fans, rather than Harrier-like jet nozzles.

I was looking at this image and considering how I might model one of these.

ONE idea was to buy a toy VW van and chop it up and scratch build something.

but then I rememberd a decade ago I built a vacuum mold machine for a terrain building project and could do some small pieces. And suddenly I remembered we have a new shop vac but saved the motor from the old one to cobble up a leaf blower (Dad's idea even though we can totally use the new shop vac as a leaf blower). This has me wondering if I shouldn't build a new vacuum mold machine on a larger scale in the basement. sculpt a "van" body out of clay and mold a styrene sheet onto it.

Wait I already have enough with my Seige on the Borderlands project! Dope slap to forehead. Checking ebay for a VW toy
