JCab747 February 19, 2018 - 8:14pm | I stumbled across an author's website (Ryk Brown) for a series he calls "The Frontier Saga." I've only skimmed over his posts, but it was his conceptual art that I was intrigued with. Joe Cabadas |
JCab747 February 19, 2018 - 8:22pm | Instead of the blocky Zeb's version of an air transport, I'd say this one from Ryk Brown would more fit the bill of what a Star Frontiers air transport should be: Joe Cabadas |
JCab747 February 19, 2018 - 8:22pm | Sorry, I am trying to get the image to fit in the window. Joe Cabadas |
KRingway February 20, 2018 - 9:11am | Still seems rather brick-like to me. I'd always imagined them as more like big aircars, at least with ducted fans of some sort rather than jet nozzles. |
Shadow Shack February 20, 2018 - 9:54am | While it looks light years better than the Bodycomp illustration that was published in Zeb's (oh, wait...THAT was an air transport?!?), my only reservation is Winnebago wheels instead of skids. |
JCab747 February 20, 2018 - 10:30am | Hey, Winnebagos are cool. Joe Cabadas |
ChrisDonovan March 4, 2018 - 1:38pm | I was thinking Panzers from R Tal's old Cyberpunk 2020, which is pretty much the same thing. http://cyberpunk.asia/images/vehicule/AV-6_Combat_Aerodyne.jpg |
jedion357 March 4, 2018 - 5:25pm | http://cyberpunk.asia/images/vehicule/AV-6_Combat_Aerodyne.jpg Like that one I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
JCab747 March 4, 2018 - 6:15pm | http://cyberpunk.asia/images/vehicule/AV-6_Combat_Aerodyne.jpg I like that one too. It's more SF like. Joe Cabadas |
KRingway March 5, 2018 - 1:49pm | I tend to see them using ducted fans, rather than Harrier-like jet nozzles. |
jedion357 March 6, 2018 - 7:06am | http://cyberpunk.asia/images/vehicule/AV-6_Combat_Aerodyne.jpg I was looking at this image and considering how I might model one of these. ONE idea was to buy a toy VW van and chop it up and scratch build something. but then I rememberd a decade ago I built a vacuum mold machine for a terrain building project and could do some small pieces. And suddenly I remembered we have a new shop vac but saved the motor from the old one to cobble up a leaf blower (Dad's idea even though we can totally use the new shop vac as a leaf blower). This has me wondering if I shouldn't build a new vacuum mold machine on a larger scale in the basement. sculpt a "van" body out of clay and mold a styrene sheet onto it. Wait I already have enough with my Seige on the Borderlands project! Dope slap to forehead. Checking ebay for a VW toy I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Shadow Shack March 6, 2018 - 10:42am | Did someone say VW van? Those are very versatile... |
