I was channel surfing and the cult classic was on. Immediately, I thought Escape from New York the RPG- Star Frontier rules would certainly work. I google it and it turns out TSR produced the board game. I'm sure I knew that at some point but hadn't really thought much about it.

I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

I owned that game and it was more RPG than you might think. You were a character and moved around the city checking locations to find the president and the tape (tape was more important) along the way you found and lost equipment and allies while fighting the unfriendly inhabitants of New York. This was all represented by a deck of cards which gave you bonuses to your combat score and clues to where to find the items you needed.

Game was amoung the things me mum threw out while I was in the Army.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

A long time ago (in the very early days of this website), Imperial Lord ran an on-line game that was based on this concept.  We were all prisoners in a "compound" on Outer Reach and trying to survive and get off the planet.  The game only lasted a few sessions due to to schedule issues but we did manage to survive several encounters, get into the space port, and get on a ship.  The last session ended just before the ship was going to take off.

So SF rules definitely work for that kind of game.

I like it. Escape from Outer Reach. Sounds like an Outer Limits episode.
