With some of the crap dished out on TV and at the movies could they do worse than to make a remake or sequel of Big Trouble in Little China?

Secondly wouldn't this movie make a great RPG adventure script?
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Personally, I feel- screw a remake and bring back the original cast as much as is possible and do a sequel.

Love the ROck but I am looking forward to this as much as the all female cast remake of Ghostbusters.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

Part of the fun with the original is it was a crazy story and you couldn't be sure where it was going. With a remake they might lose that and then it will be all on the comedy side to carry the story and no matter how good the Rock is I have to wonder if it will work. I'd really rather see a new story- Return to Little China. Though in this age of political correctness you have to wonder about the use of "little China". We had a politician voted out of office in Boston for referring to one neighborhood as " little Saigon". They may have to call it "Big Trouble in ethnically non-diverse Eastern culture neighborhood" which would be hysterical especially if the went on to continuall poke fun of political correctness and have the Jack Burton character not get it at all and be decidedly not politically correct.

The way to do this as an RPG adventure may be to set it in a neighborhood of Port Loren referred to as Yaz-Ville but officially having a Yazirian name. It should also be a tour de force of yazirian culture which has probably had the most fan development.

LOL... yes, we have Rancho Cambodia, alien nation had Slag Town... some cities celebrate diversity "Little Italy" "China Town" "French Camp" "Little France" and so on, really depends on area & who is in charge and trying to make a name for themselves or simply who is mental with power... they kicked around renaming "Negro Bar" but everyone complained as any PC name would obliterate the history of Black Americans in this area and everyone felt that was PC BS being used to destroy history & culture of minorities. Some other folks also tried to get the historic cat house torn down over "image"... did not go well that either.  The PC crowd has gotten some people's names stricken off of buildings and parks but the new names suck, and everyone keeps using the non-PC names... our history here is not perfect but people and groups of people deserve to be remembered not purged to create a colorless, boring, bland correct fake history! I love the PC name you came up for BT in LC. LOL... so Vrusks... Bug Town, Cricket Camp, the Hive, Little (HW name of ref's choice)? Dralasites: Blobcity, Little Dramune, The Reach, Blobburg, Dralville, ... seems like there would be colorful names for places...maybe not official, but some official. Sape might become an insult to humans (Sapien)... Monkey Cage?

I like Cricket Camp and isn't there a hairy ape man primitive in the setting called the sape? This would make Sape-ville a bit of an insult for humanity. Borrowing from Star Wars: Creature Cantina should be a slang term for a dive bar catering to spacers and mixed species. "You should have seen this place, it was a real creature cantina!" Oh course that leads to phrases like creature cantina crawl. And joining the Creature Cantina Club which involves getting drunk and mating (or thinking you mated) with another species.

"Creature Cantina" was simply a fanbase moniker & marketing name for the toy line, it was actually "Chalmun's Cantina".

Useless trivia of the day.

Yes Sapes are a GMO Monkey.... so yes it would piss humans off if say a Vrusk responded to there town/neighborhood of T'tlin being called Cricket Camp with Sape Town or if you wanted to go for the jugular Sape Sewers... ;)

Upper class hoods can have nick names too "Arrogant Oaks" instead of say Arden Oaks. Or a neighborhood might have given themselves a special name like in my area "Gold River" in which it pretends to be a town, when it is just a bunch of track homes, a bank, a grocery store, and a Starbuck's and a few chain restaurants... because they don't want to be part of Rancho Cordova... all you got to do to annoy those folks back is remind them they live in Rancho Cordova and have the same Zip Code. It also throws them for a loop when they are being very rude based on what they think your social status is based on (BS stuff) to inform them the neighborhood has changed, the trees are bigger, and when they prat a response then tell them you used to live there, (watching the horror and shock bugged eyed response is so fun) and when they try to imply you could not afford to stay tell them you moved to a better hood... lol pisses them off every time. I know lot's of folks who agree any other neighborhood is an improvement to live in than GR because those folks are so rude, noisy and judgementa, but rude-snob neighbors is always number one reason for moving.

:) Good Trivia
