I'm in Utah (Spanish Fork to be exact).  If I was still in grad school I'd be near by as I went to NMSU in Las Cruces.  I was just talking with someone on the SF-Underground Yahoo group that is in San Antonio (I know, not really nearby but at least the same state).  The person that is probably the closest that I know of is AZ_Gamer who is in Arizona somewhere (imagine that, given his handle Wink) and he might actually be closer given the distance to San Antonio.

True, but unfortunately i'm not going to doing any travel towards Texas in the immediate future. But I still think a West Coast get together maybe possible some day as we have two folks in Utah, me in AZ, you in Texas, and Shadow Shack in Vegas.

We actually have a 3rd person in Utah.  He's not here on these forums (that I know of) but I interact with him on Google+ and he was amazed to discover that the Frontier Explorer was based just down the road from him.  And I know there are others in nothern California, Oregon, and Washington as well.

The yahoo group, as far as I can tell, was founded by the members of the old star frontiers list serv which operated as far back as '99 (or 97) through the early 2000s. There are a lot of members on it now but the posting is not to aggressive.

Google's Star Frontiers group seems to have more posting. it seems to have a different dynamic than the yahoo group but its hard to explain how that is.

Sure, his name is Stan and I think he may have just moved there as one of his comments said that he was still unpacking.  He has physical copies of all the old SciCon books and I'm working with him to get copies that we can republish through the Frontier Explorer.  I'll PM you with his e-mail or you can go join the Star Frontiers Underground Yahoo group and post directly there.

And I was just in Seattle in January.  Missed opportunity, although I was pretty swamped with my meeting and didn't have a car.

@ Terl, I saw a post or email about you being in Seattle, but I have been short on funds and could not afford the gas to connect even if you had the time. It's a 3 hour drive to Seattle from here, but maybe another opportunity will come up one day.

To our Northern neighbors, especially around Boston,  we here in Bama are prepping an Assault Scout with emergency supplies.  Of course we have had to take a break since the temp dropped below 40 degrees but since the high will be 60 degrees we will be back on it soon. Hold on.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

No worries, I'm from Maine, lived in Alaska and Plattsburg, NY so the snow blitz that is on aint nothin but a thing to me. Although I am not tempted to make a snow shelter and sleep out in it like in my younger days. In fact if I was to win the lottery I'd at the very least go for a prolonged visit south of the Mason Dixon if not buy a home down that away so I can simply dispense with shovelling snow for the rest of my life.

But in the mean time I simply laugh at certain ethnic groups that move here, live here multiple years and still dont have a clue about how to dress in winter (even to the point of wearing sandles in the snow) and constantly whine about the cold and the snow.

I am in Crawfordsville, Indiana (about an hour NW of Indianapolis). I haven't had personal internet connection for about 4 years now. It has been very hit and miss for me. More miss than hit. However, is there any thought about another virtual convention circulating out there? I would love to take a day or two off work and stay up all night. Just to throw it out there, I have not played many of the official modules. In fact, I believe that I own all of them but have resisted reading them in hopes that I could play them first. (That was my attempt at a subtle hint.)

There is another con in the works.  Looking for mid July.  I just need to finalize a date and get the website set up.  Hopefully I'll get to that before the end of the month to provide plenty of sign-up time.  I've had positive feed back on the idea from several sources including the G+ community.

Is it too late to introduce a bill while the legislature is still in session?  I think they still have a few weeks before the session ends for the year.

I like that: we're the unofficial/official Star Frontiers Research and Development site.

I want a patch, border text around the top: Star Frontiers,
Border text around bottom: Research & Development

Central image:
Idea 1: assault scout

Idea 2: area is quatered with four faces one each of core four.
