TerlObar October 8, 2014 - 7:56pm | I told you it wouldn't be long. Issue 25 of the Star Frontiersman is now out and available. This issue contains a complete adventure by Ben Gorman that fills the entire issue. Grab a copy from the new Star Frontiersman website or from DriveThruRPG. Ad Astra Per Ardua! jedion357 October 9, 2014 - 5:13am | Since the whole issue is an adventure its tough to skim and comment at this time but I did notice that the adventure has a large creature catalog which is something I consider a huge plus for it. One thing that I did notice was that the Hydozoan (pictured on the cover) has a large bladder of hydrogen for lift and that it is able to give on a discharge of electricity! I think I'll be naming my pet hydrozoan Hindenberg! I can see red necked dralasites flying around in open topped air cars with laser rifles shooting up hydrozoan for the light show- that would have to be one hell of a light show, especially at night! I am enticipating that this module is every bit as good as all the other material I've seen from Ben. EDIT: Ben, clearly did his homework on underwater adventures and there is an openning section discussing the Dragon article "Going for a Swim" and modern real world diving tech as well as related medical complications associated with diving and further discussion on the impact of water on the various weapon technologies in the beginning which again is a big plus. No reason a prospective referee should have to do a lot of homework and research just to use your adventure so at this point in my reading I can say that its entirely likely that you can read this and run it without having to do a lot of prep work as Ben has certainly paid attention to detail. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jedion357 October 9, 2014 - 3:52pm | Got to say that this is an issue I'd love to have in hard copy- too bad that is not an option on Drive thru. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
TerlObar October 9, 2014 - 4:08pm | Making it available for print purchase takes a bit more work and I'm not sure exactly how to handle that with the SFMan issues yet. There are considerations that go into making the covers and pages that haven't been considered at all for SFMan that need to be worked out to get it ready for print production there. With FE I've been taking those issues into account since issue 1. Ad Astra Per Ardua! jedion357 October 9, 2014 - 4:36pm | Thats too bad because with this issue being a whole module it would be nice to have a hard copy for table top gaming. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
rattraveller October 10, 2014 - 5:58am | If you can download it to a flashdrive and take it to a Kinko's or Office Max they can print you a copy in various styles for a small fee and then you can send me one. Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
OnceFarOff October 10, 2014 - 1:43pm | I skimmed through it today. Great stuff! |

Two routes to go with this color or B/W printing, one's cheaper. and I recommend against the comb binding as I just had to replace the comb binding from my Zebs Guide remastered from 2007. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Karxan October 11, 2014 - 11:21am | I think this is Ben's best work yet. |
Rollo October 13, 2014 - 4:15pm | Hey all! :) I applogize in advance for any mistakes (thematic, gramatical and/or typographic). I'm certain there are many such mistakes, hopefully they can be overlooked. One such occurance that may be construed as a thematic mistake is the listing of 'sex' for the various dralasite NPCs. I suscribe to the notion that dralasites go through periods in their lives when they are one sex or another for a short time. In retrospect, I probably should not have made that distinction in the document. Regardless, I hope this helps in some small way to increase interest in the game, which was my motivation for doing it. I was extremely fortunate to be put in touch with Khairul Hisham who did much of the outstanding internal artwork and the cover. His art goes a long way toward breathing life into the document! :D I am also fortunate to have gotten to work with Karzan on this project. He had the unlucky job (unlucky because of the huge number of unknown people he had to contact and interact with!) of contacting all of the deviant artists who's images we were looking to use for all the creatures and attempting to get their permission. Karzan deserves a pretty big 'attaboy' for all of his behind-the-scenes work! :D Cheers! ~R I don't have to outrun that nasty beast my friend...I just have to outrun you! |
jedion357 October 13, 2014 - 4:48pm | I dont consider listing sex for a dralasite a mistake- AD says they go through 3 distinct phases so why not detail which one a dralasite actually is? I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
