I have been bopping around in the various resources and forum threads and I have a few Qs about Truane's Star Government and Culture.

Q1) OC IX: is it in the same system as Pale and New Pale?

Q2) What is the logic behind it being illegal and punishable by death to celebrate Springfest and Winterfest?

I think I read some place that people see the government as Fascist?

Just trying to understand either source of ideas in materials or logic of ideas by various folks... Thanks guys.

:)

Not Polyhedron.  I just looked at all of those Star Frontiers articles.  Ares maybe?

Hello all,

I saw the Topic and had to look at the Forum. My apologies for not being around in a while. I found a few D&D players willing to put up with my old school ways and play my 1st and 2nd edition AD&D hodgepodge. I have been devoting most of my spare time to that game campaign. If you want to ask me about details of the System brief I wrote, feel free.

I picked the Republic as a form of government for the two planets because I liked the Ancient Roman republic's Idea; Or Rather the Idea behind the republic not the actual results of the republic. 2nd: True Republics that do their governance as it is intended seem to last longer. Examples the Roman Republic lasted for about 550 years. The U.S. has lasted for more than 200 years and is eroding away to something else unless it changes course. I am not trying to discuss that right now. But longevity is the point I am making. True republics seem to last until something changes them. In my own studies of various real world governments I have found that most "Republics" are not true. Most of them especially when they have a name that starts "People’s Democratic Republic" of pick one almost any one of them.... tend to be socialist or communist dictatorships. But Peoples Democratic Republic sounds nicer. They are not all single strongman type dictatorships. Sometimes they are counsel type dictatorships…. Where a few elites make all the decisions. Not that I want to get too deep into politics. In a perfect world Communism is supposed to end as a perfect democracy…. The world is not perfect and communism almost always ends up as some kind of Dictatorship despite the good/Utopian intentions of it.

That is why I picked the "Constitutional Republic Roman Style", for Truanes Star in my System Brief. They could be the good guys or bad guys depending on how the GM runs it. Either way they will be militant; as I intend in any future SF campain I may run. I guess you could say that I like what I created and I left it open to interpretation for GMs to work as they see fit. My Intention is to make Truanes Star as much fun as White Light without banning any particular Mega Corp. Obviously Streel has an advantage because of they way I shaped the government. On the Other hand a strong government also keeps the corporations from getting too  powerful. That is what I was thinking when I wrote the brief. I used Ideas from Alpha Dawn, Knight Hawks, Zebs Guide and the Volturnus adventures.

As for Cygnus Omicron and Volturnus... I just Assumed that CO was in a different star system. It is not that far from Truane to Zebulon, so in order for the Pale military to be too busy to go to Zebulon it can't be in the Pales home system. Maybe my logic is flawed or maybe its not. It is up to individual GMs anyway.

I do love the founding heroes I created. There are no stats as they were mature people already when the Sathar War happened... and have since died off. If you do that, remember that Jamie Cerval will have a lot of Military PSA skills and will not be a man to be trifled with. Lilly on the other hand will have more Social type skills. One other thing, Pale and New Pale were INVADED by the Sathar.... most of the UPF was not.  A certain amount of extra hatred for Sathar should be held in the minds of thier citizens. Two Citizens may be about to come to blows over one thing or another... but a worm walks into the room and all of that will be put to the side while the Sathar is delt with.... Terminate with extreme prejudice.

Any other thoughts?

The bombing starts in five minutes.
