jedion357 September 23, 2012 - 9:00pm | A comment in another thread got me thinking about this Premise in the Tom Clancy novel is that he had a cast of characters that never really met and that you go to witness the whole panarama of the war through their eyes. Character development is the perview of the player so for this my goal is to identify the story lines that will give the players a similar view of the SW1. Its not mandatory that the varios PCs in the various story threads never meet- they could (they simply didn't in the Tom Clancy novel). its possible for pre gens and for strict referee guidelines for PC generation for example a story line following naval forces would require appropriate PCs and the referee would give guidelines on what and how to generate said characters. I would contend from the limited canon evidence that the major elements of the SW1 are: 1. the day the aliens land- Pale is rapidly occupied which suggests resistence group stories; occupation of new pale and laco are significant but i would think Pale ought to be a story line 2. nuking of pale and new pale and not sure but possibly Laco, refugees on laco 3. Organizing of the 2nd Common muster and the associated naval campaigns upto and including Admiral Morgaine giving his last full measure of devotion. 4. organizing of the UPF and raising of an army PGC certainly plays a role in this 5. the first land campaign on Laco- scratch built units still working up so Royal Guard plays a major role here. ground hawks action kicks worm butt. 6. liberation of Pale and ground campaign takes a while thought the battle in space is over first contact with the CFM though they keep their jump routes home secret they obtain a special charater from the UPFwhile providing low priced food from the bread basket planets of the Rim I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |

I need to get back to writing on it. Ad Astra Per Ardua! Yeah I know we had similar ideas about the same time except mine was a half formed kernel of an idea and your mentioning of your sathar war story galvenized my thoughts into a specific adventer/shot story idea. Actually I now have two story lines one would be a police officer on Pale who's cruiser gets strafed while he's not in it on the day the sathar are landing and by default of being armed ends up saving civilians and becomes a resistance leader. The other physical is a Royal Merchant Marine crewman (note: not Royal Marine) who's ship had a reason for being at New Pale and cant get back to a shuttle in time before his captain is forced to with draw his ship in the face of overwhelming force. I had further thought that this captain and his ship would naturally be quickly modified with extra add on weapons (external missile racks sort of stuff) and take part in the Second Common Muster under Morgaine.
