Refer to: Orion Class Explorer.

I think this is a great ship to give/loan payers.
It's small, perhaps hull size 2, can land on planets and zip around the frontier at 0.5 LY/day.

In addition to the main hatch ladder I would place a vertical cargo elevator at the bottom of the ship for easy cargo loading/unloading.

Hull
Hull Size: 2
Ceramic plates extended in certain locations to keep heat away from parts of the hull.

Engines
Ion Catcher
The ports facing the front of the ship catch ions that are stored and used by the engines.

I love the overall ship design! =D It has an old-school sci-fi look about it. This would would be quite useful for players who only needs a simple ship to travel in - but not necessary a (para-)military craft like the ol' Assault Scout.

Totatlly agree, this ship has a lot of apeal to me. So much so I wish I was the player and not the referee!

:-)

Hopefully I'll have some time next week to flesh it, maybe make some deck plans.

I just assumed the crew sleeps in hammocks. LOL

This would make a great submission for the zine. Perhaps with a more detailed deck plan? and some write up?

I wonder about the feasibility of the radar array mounted that way though, seems like the forces involved in launch would strain the support arm? Modern fighter jets carry radar but its housed within the nose of the plane Perhap a starship does the same- a blister like bump on the surface of the craft houses and protects the radar and with larger ships several of these arrays are spacec around the ship so that the ship does not generate its own blind spot.

In a less KHs style game you could have one array damage but the others still function- every turn it requires a piloting skill check to make sure that an opposing ship is not in the blind spot caused by the damaged array.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!
