Had my head caught up in material surrounding Yast and Exib which are both agricultural colonies and it suddenly seemed to me that it would be the most natural thing in the world for a yazirian clan to have a commune like farm. In fact of all the modern economic endeavors a clan could focus on farming is probably the one that is the most like the Yaz clan experience of 1000-2000 years ago. Center piece of the farm is the clan hall, flanked by a large communal kitchen, dorms and private residences. Then barns, corals, silos, and gardens. As for clan hall it's the heart and soul of the clan where celebrations, communal eating, education of the you've, ceremonies, trials, and more all go on.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Why limit it to farmers?
What about steelworkers? Factory workers. Coal miners Clan of Great Yaff, etc....

I think that other industries dont lend themselves as much to the clan structure.

I disagree.
Clan structure permeates the yazirian bloodstream, it's part of everything they do. Clans are a social and cultural cocoon and provide nutrients to their existence.

A clan of starfarers? With a Firefly like ship with the communal table?

Actually, I think it would be easy to pick an industry for communal/clan structure. You can see families who have a long history in one industry. Coal mining, Police, Fire fighter, military, trading. I am sure there are many more. So you could conceivably have a clan run a certain type of industry. They would control that industry or at least their area of it. You could have multiple clans that are traders and have a structure where the clans meet to discuss the trading industry as a whole for their society but they are still individual clans. In your farming example, I would think there would be multiple clans on different worlds that farm, not just one clan on each world.

I guess the next question would be, How big is a clan? Are their millions of Yazirians in one clan or are there thousands of clans making up the millions of Yazirians?

I think we talked about that one in another thread. I'm comfortable with thousands of clans numbering in the hundreds and a few numbering in the thousands.

currently writing about a small clan numbering between 200-300.
