I'm just about to submit Zebs guide to the Rim and Capella, BTW, thank you to everyone that has contributed to the Zebs Expanded project. I need help with a few things: could use graphic images for the capellan/ Flight ranks (officer and enlisted) that were developed. Art work involving ifshnits would be super cool tool though we only really need line drawings. Art work could involve almost any race actually as CFM hires anyone but ifshnits would be really good (just not the space dwarf style but rather the written description). FINALLY: I've change my mind again and decided that this submission ought to have some suggested adventures. The focus is on the ifshnit, the CFM, and Capella system so I thought that the unifying theme could be the PC's hire on as crew with a CFM captain. The ship will be the Dawn Trader class detailed in the project plus a HS2 shuttle to land on planet with. Action is to be both AD and KH encounter. I'm on the smart phone now but will post proper links later tonight but if you check the documents at Zebs Expanded you find 75% of the information that's going into this zine submission.

KH encounters should be fairly straightforward: pirates, a sathar raid of the system the PC's ship just happen to be in- Ifshnits hate the sathar more than anyone and will not shirk to support the local militia or space fleet. Could also developed a dust up with a corporate privateer with the right set up. For AD, I thought that a magnificent 7 sort of scenario could be a possibility. These encounters could either be linked or episodic with the only connection being the same crew and ship involved.

What I've come up with so far: start are port Loren, Gran QUIVERA with the PC's hiring on with an with an ifshnit . He's taking a contract from a CFM front at Port Loren to deliver some weapons in exchange form food stuffs with a poor isolated farming community on Lossend. Since they lack cash they've offered more in value of food stuffs as a mark up. Food stuffs will easily be sold on Pale or Laco's World, or a number of other places. When they get to the settlement on Lossend they find it burned to the ground. Unable to deliver the weapons and collect their payment they're forced to cool their heals for a bit. And bury the bodies. A teen age farm boy shows up and accuses them of destroying the village. Some role play leads to them learning that a band of bandits (pirates) have been extorting the smaller farming settlements. Perhaps his village will trade for the weapons? Long and the short is a magnificent 7 style show down and they learn the name of the bandits ship. Plus earn the gratitude of the farmers and a good haul in food.

Leaving Lossend they take a the at goods plus some robots destined for Port Loren. At Laco's World there can be a variety of encounters developed from the Laco's World brief that should be in issue 18. Possibly purchasing some black market Tetrarch antiquities, but at Moe's Easy Canteena they run into some more of the pirate band they dealt with on Lossend and the one pirate that got away is there and recognizes them. Bar fight is possible. But the pirates will attempt to get even. Whether the PC's have a Road Warrior style chase as they try to get back to there shuttle with pirate vehicles chasing them only to encounter the pirate assault scout overhauling the as the leave the system. Which will bring in a KHs encounter.

Next stop could be either Prengular or Truane's Star. Though I'm leaning toward Prengular so that the ship can move toward Dramune system which is another pirate hot spot and a finale meeting with this pirate band can be arranged.

Could have a series of placid delivery/shipments between Prengular and Dramune or the pirates could be plotting revenge having a front contract with the PC's ship to transport some fragile food stuffs in stasis chambers but in reality the chambers hold a small squad of pirates and the stasis chambers are rigged to shut down after jumping into Dramune. Plus a ship will be waiting.

So that should make up approximately 4-7 encounters and give a GM a whole story arch involving a vicious band of pirates. Probably would take about 3-4the sessions

What would the final encounter look like?
Perhaps you should have a master villain that can/should be defeated as the final encounter. Or maybe having tension between the party and this organized band is healthy for adventure. Although I think at the end of the campaign the heroes should overcome the pirates, wipe them out, become allies, etc.

I think the final encounter should be a massive fight through the ship even as the pirate vessel moves in to dock with and board the CFM ship. ATTENtion: Larry this is my contribution to putting an adventure into issue 18 since I pulled Bounty on Death from consideration.

Few things have occured to me:
1. gaming the picking up of stuff at location A and selling it at location B is not going to be very exciting and I think that for a CFM campaign a game master will need to just work out 3 months worth of that stuff in the rough details: Perhaps just a travel logue of systems visited with a notation of industrial goods carried, next run ag goods, etc -after three months what the PCs actually loaded and unloaded will largely blur for the PCs so this can be fairly abstract. The other thing will be to calculate pay for that time and deduct cost of living as per the rules. The actual business books of the ships are not neccessary to track. Simply assume that the ship is run in the black and the captain is able to manage and maintain it OR roll against the captain's LDR to determine if the ships budget is flush or tight which might then impact whether he's going to be able to maintain the ship or fully pay his crew.
Could complicate things for the PCs by causing an inconvient equipment break down like: the ship's aft elevator has stopped working till new parts can be purchased.

2. the best way to game being a merchantmen might be setting things up like what we saw in the Firefly TV series. They do a job and there is a complication (often small things) that makes getting paid difficult. Then the job becomes just getting paid somehow. Which was the idea behind having the CFM crew pick up weapons at Port Loren for a farming outpost on Lossend only to find that out post and the buyers of the weapons burned to the ground. Now what? Obvious variations on that theme would be transporting dangerous/wanted individuals or animals (animals escape their cage and sapient individuals may be wishing to avoid attention of The Star Law/Space Fleet kind)

3. Need a catchy name for the Pirate story arch (I'll know it when I hear it), could use some filler encounters to break up the pirate encounters, need a stat block and bio on the ifshnit captain, need a vicious pirate band with a hideout on Laco and contacts in Dramune and a couple of ships. 3-5 named NPC and mooks without number.

EDIT: This sounds like a great adventure name: "Mooks Without Number" just from the title you'd expect lots and lots of combat.

EDIT2: Need a merchant's ship name, taking suggestions
