Anti-Virus definitions are out of date.... ACCESS DENIED

Just like modern computers, tablets, smartphones, jedions, etc. some robots in the Frontier require AV software. After all, most are tied into some type of network. You wouldn't want a virus to infect the combat robots guarding the ship from enemy's, would you?

Robots don't browse the Galactic-NET (gNET), however they do access and retrieve data often. Is the data validated before uploading? Think about how your computer interacts with AV.
  • PC's pose as robot tech's and infect a maid-bot at a remote Streel office. Once the maid-bot checks into the computer network it will upload a small program that changes the employee time clocks behind 30 seconds. In that 30 seconds they will use a badge to "punch in for work" granting them access to the facility.
  • A malicious botnet infects the party's communications robot. The software turns the robot into a clepto. It steals cred-cards and cred-chips and uses them to bet online, often picking the loper who comes in last... most of the time. Star Law is informed of the online betting and issues a warrant for the party's arrest.
There's lots more ideas... but you get the point.

Referee Note
Computer skills and robotic skills are separate, there is no overlap. If a virus is written to infect a computer, it will not infect a robot and vise-versa. However, a computer network could carry a robot virus.

Computer viruses are a headache in real life. I only wish them upon my worst of enemies, meanwhile SF players are my friends. Putting them into my game --- what is this, the list of Evil DM options? Wink
I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out

Actually, jedion and I came up with some believable and fun scenarios offline. Really their just another type of obstacle we don't think about or consider. :-)

I can't help but think that most computer virus' are created by the very companies that sell the programs to identify and get rid of them; the ultimate scam if I'm right.

Location: Star Safari Park, on a Star Play Rest and Relaxation Station. (there are 3 of these in the Frontier: over Ankor, Zebulon; Morgaine's World, Prengular; and Circe, Solar Minor)

A Robotic virus has invaded the animal bots and they no longer similate death after being shot with a light rifle (stepped down laser rifle-totally harmless) they are now attacking the tourist. Its very bad for business you understand.

Star Play denies......

EDIT: I missed 2 RRS stations; Outer Reach and Kwadl-kit
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!
