SATHAR HARBINGER CLASS WARSHIP
|
iggy February 19, 2011 - 2:03pm | Maybe off topic, but did the S'sessu ever progress economically to the point of building warships? I thought of them as cousins to the Sathar that were not aggressive and expansionist. I always thought of them as a one world race that were pushed to seek others to avoid being absorbed by the Sathar. I guess I should go read the old Ares article again. -iggy |
AZ_GAMER February 19, 2011 - 2:23pm | I'm not entirely sure, however, if they were provided or copied Sathar technology this is the color scheme variant there ship would lool like. |
iggy February 19, 2011 - 5:35pm | I rechecked the Dragon article. The S'sessu are related to Sathar but suspected to be 20,000 in the past. They inhabit two systems 10 light years from Gruna Garu on a line running from Dixon's Star to Gruna Garu. This puts their systems a little beyond Rhianna towards the vast expanse. They are listed as having never met the Sathar and are described as essentially amoral, competitive, and self-centered. Their technology when encountered by the UPF ship Hellscar was below the UPF. The Hellscar was damaged and miss-jumped into their system. This allowed the S'sessu to capture the Hellscar which they never returned to the UPF. I read the article to be a spin on the Sathar so that a player can play a Sathar character without undoing the Sathar as the villain of the game. Just my feeling, but the S'sessu are poorly developed and don't fit properly in with the modules. We need to rethink them and their place in the SF setting. I like the S'sessu variant of the Sathar ship and wonder how we would work this out without them having Sathar ties. If the S'sessu have Sathar ties and a Sathar made vessel then they are the link to finding the Sathar home worlds. I'd love to hear some ideas on how the S'sessu can have a Sathar-like ship but not be Sathar aligned. The UPF would viciously press the S'sessu if they had Sathar ties they could exploit to take the war to the Sathar. -iggy |
AZ_GAMER February 19, 2011 - 7:01pm | Like the Hellscar maybe a Sathar Harbinger misjumped into their area and was damaged and unable to return. Maybe it was stolen by S'ssesu who saw the ship as a business oportunity. Possibly as part of a Sathar Plot to use the S'ssesu the Sathar provided them with some ships and training planning to use them as canon fodder. However, the plan went south and the S'ssesu kept the spoils of the Sathar's missed adventure. Using the magazine's suggestion that they are 20K years behind the times would not make them very suitable for player character use and severly limit their usefulness as a plot device in any campaign. |
iggy February 19, 2011 - 7:37pm | I think the article means the S'sessu split from the Sathar biologically 20,000 years ago. It hints that the Tetrachs planted the Sathar and S'sessu. The Sathar advanced to an expansive warlike race, the S'sessu only to two worlds. But the article is very limited on knowledge. We don't know if the S'sessu have meet other races before the core 4. -iggy |
