Deryn_Rys November 20, 2010 - 4:16pm | I came across this and had to share it with you guys. According to d20 future the homeworlds of Dralasites, Vrusk, and Yazirians are as follows: Dralasite: Dralasites evolved on the ice-ringed world of Terledrom in the Fromeltar system. A stormy world, Terledrom is veiled in perpetual mist, and many dralasite cities are carved into the walls of great river-canyons that scar the planet's surface. Vrusk: When most vrusk think of home, they imagine the honeycombed mountains of K'zah-Kit, their homeworld, in the K'aken-Kar system. In addition to hollowed-out mountains holding city-sized warrens, K'zah-Kit features tremendous surface winds and vast white deserts speckled with bizarre, wind-worn rock formations. Yazirian: Yazirians hail from the planet Hakosoar, in the Scree Fron system. Hakosoar has two small, bright moons called Infi and Inti, named after the legendary yazirian brother and sister who conceived the entire race. Amid the boughs of Hakosoar's ancient, twisted forests hang many yazirian clan-homes, communities, and temples So what do you think of that. jedion357 November 20, 2010 - 9:01pm | D20 bites a cryxian roach and smells like one too IMO. None of that works with any timeline details in any other source. Therefore I would weight every other SF source as more reliable over d20. However if d20 had a coherent timeline to use and you didn't want to bother with working out the kinks in the SF timeline then i'd say go with d20 if it works for you I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Deryn_Rys November 20, 2010 - 9:10pm | I thought it might give you guys a kick to see just how far WOTC has gone in disregarding Classic SF canon to shoe horn the races into d20 future. I don't consider this canon because it didn't come from what we know to be the canon SF books AD, KH, and grudgingly Zebs. I just thought it was kind of interesting, and maybe funny in a perverse way. jedion357 November 20, 2010 - 9:29pm | I like the description of Terledrom but it sounds strangely familiar- Starmist and the description of of K'zah- Kit sounds good too. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jacobsar November 20, 2010 - 10:07pm | The D20 info also contradicts the "Alternate Frontiers" article in Dragon Magazine: Dralasites originate from the watery world of Flaginnor. This planet is more than 90% covered with water, with only a few land masses dotting the surface. Most of the animal life on Flaginnora consists of amphibians and fish, with a handful of reptilian creatures. Vrusk society developed into structured organizations early in their history. As early as Progress Level 2 on their homeworld of K’arek-Kar, capitalism was nearly universal. The article doesn't say where the Yazarians came from, but it has some odd info about the Sather: It is only by a narrow margin that the sathar did not destroy their entire species ages ago. Since the sathar had only simple tools and weapons, they have been at war. Gargoyle2k7 November 21, 2010 - 4:03pm | In my own SF game, I decided the homeworlds of the core four long before I'd seen any of this. As the Zeb's timeline has each race entering the Frontier, I had always assumed they came from somewhere else in the galaxy. As vast as space is, there is easily room for each of the four to come from different regions. In the case of humans, I had them come from Earth, or at least an Earth-dominated interstellar empire. Each race had a different reason for exploring and settling in the Frontier. Vrusk-business; dralasites-curiosity; humans-fleeing persecution; yazirians-conquest. Just my two credits... Long live the Frontier! |

Deryn_Rys November 22, 2010 - 11:06pm | I wouldn't consider myself a d20 future player I do have all the books, and have found some interesting stuff there, and some stuff that with some tweaking I've used in my SF project. As a whole the d20 future book is nothing more than a sourcebook, requiring game masters to pick and choose from the material there to build a campaign rather then being a campaign book in and of itself. This approach I think while good, put off a few people who were expecting a ready made campaign setting. I do give them credit for at least trying to cover all the bases, and providing rules for everything from cybernetics to space craft all in one book. I know its not SF, but I appreciated that they at least remembered that great game and instead of creating a new version of the game they gave us enough material (the core 4, and an overview of SF) that if we wanted to we could create our own SF variant. I think I would have been more upset if they had made an official d20 Star Frontiers game, and it not living up to what I have always loved about the original SF, but they didn't do that, they acknowledged the game, and left it in our hands to create our own version of SF, and I thank them for that. Malcadon November 23, 2010 - 2:56am | I always figured that they came from worlds that have the highest proportion of a given race, and has the highest population among them, or some fluff that give some historical context. That is, Hentz (of Araks) seems like a natural chose for the Yazirians, as its not just have the most Yazirians, but it also have religious clan that likely predates their exploration to the stars. The K'aken-Kar system dose look like the hub of the Vrusk-established worlds. From the canons, the Vrusks encountered the Dralasites on their homeworld early-on and Terledrom looks like the place they met - on the old map, that world is largely populated by Vrusks and Dralasites. Although with Humans I'm split between what I noted above - which would likely make Gollywog/Clarion the homeworld - or humans as the center of the Frontier - witch is ether Triad (of Cassidne) or Gran Quivera (of Prenglar). With Clarion, it would make some sense with their long-held royal linage. |
Imperial Lord November 23, 2010 - 10:15am | Meh. Why is Jizzards bothering with all of this? I thought they had sold their soul to G. Lucas and the Star Bores game? Or did they actually part ways several months ago? I can't keep track of these clowns. If Hasbro wants to bring back SF the best thing that they could do is: HIRE US!! |
Malcadon November 23, 2010 - 3:33pm | HIRE US!! That would require an intelligent move, and I have seen much of that from them. |
Deryn_Rys November 23, 2010 - 4:02pm | On January 28, 2010, Wizards of the Coast announced on their website
that they would not be renewing their license to produce Star Wars
products for their roleplaying and miniature gaming lines. Their license
ended in May 2010. "Hey guys I wonder what this does"-Famous last words "Hey guys, I think it's friendly." -Famous last words "You go on ahead, I'll catch up." -Famous last words "Did you here that?" -Famous last words |
