You'll poke your eye out with that thing....

Recently we had players that really like the Star Wars universe. When questioned why it wasn't the setting or rule-set as much as, "I want a lightsaber and the ability to use force powers".

If anyone has run across this what are some ways:

1. You have integrated these concepts into Star Frontiers.
2. You have an idea how to integrated these concepts with Star Frontiers.

Yes, there is a test at the end of the this chapter.

Oh, okay.

What I get for overthinking a problem....

Nope. :-)

Just thinking about sonic swords... seems a tad bit harder to focus sound than energy. And what's up with those sonic screens nullifying all incoming/outgoing sound? SW don't havd dat!!!!

LOL

The way I see it, if you want a Jedi type character, run a mentalist. I wouldn't even bother with making a Jedi PSA. If you still insist on running a Jedi go play Star Wars.

We've got sonic scalpels and the like now, Larry.

Of course, the 2000s version of the sonic scalpel requires a hell of a lot more juice than can be provided by a 20 SEU clip.....

Different strokes for different folks.

'Sides, I think Larry was treating this as more of an intellectual exercise than anything anyone in his right mind would do, Gilbert.

At least I won't anytime soon, especially with the Mentalist system as provided for by Zeb's and AD Remastered.

If I allow Mentalists, you'd better damn well believe there will be no such bloody thing as a Disruption power in my game(to name an example off the top of my head).

What you would allow timeread or what about static. Oh yes, and what about beam? It seems to be the same idea an attack on an outside object. I do not see any problem with any of them. As a matter of fact, I made more to go with all of these. I came up with just about a hundred disciplines for the mentalists.Innocent

Timeread, perhaps.

Static, maybe.

Beam...uh,uh, no.

But, that's just me...only one Vorlonized Lyta Alexander per story arc, thank you, very much....

Oh the light saber is easy to get around, any term like beam sword to plasma blade will work. As for Jedi, just call them something else and limit what they can do. Small telekenisis tricks ok, but you're not going to throw that battle robot like a rag doll with out serious physical effort. It may be your mind doing it but it's still a physical action. Any mental power should be limited by their own physical and mental or intellegence limits.

And no deflecting laser or projectile shots with your blade, those things are already moving at the speed of sound to light. Plot armor does not exsist in this game.

So basically all you have is a character with a laser blade that can toss a grenade with a throught and has to take cover just like every one else. And can tire out if they try to over exert themselves even with their powers. If they want to force toss a person treat it just like it's a physical attack, if they aren't as strong as the character they want to toss then it's just not their day is it.

Oh and Vader yanked the blaster out of Han's hand, but Han is a smuggler. Where the hell was his second blaster? I'd think some one that deals with the seeder side of the galaxy would always carry a backup.
Lucas you screwed up.

No he didn't, Sargon. If Han had had that second blaster, he might have a better chance of him and his friends not getting captured, thus Luke would've had no reason to heed the will of the Force and go to Dagobah to try and save his friends and face up to what he'd already known(Vader being his father).

As for mental disciplines, I usually limit starting characters to basic Telepathy, ESP or Empathy skills( max level of 3), saving the not-unbalancing PK powers for either an entirely different PSA(for NPCs only)or for waay later in the game(like, years later) where characters so inclined can spend even more years(game time)expending sweat, tears, and sometimes blood(their own)to learn a Level 1 PK skill at the outside PSA costs(see Jedi PSA post, above, that's where I got the XP costs to begin with).

The other five levels only get harder to master from there....

And, I still won't allow Disruption.

Oh, as for Teleportation, if you want a character than can teleport, might I suggest running a DBZ campaign using the BESM rules....

It's a matter of opinion, Han should have had a second blaster. How many of us when playing any RPG don't have a second weapon? If you carry only one you're not planning far enough ahead.

My characters pack at least three....four if playing Cyberpunk.
