Rather than specify one iteration of Star Trek I suppose all are welcome so that we dont need multiple threads; TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, & Enterprise

I will say this, though, STD has a recent discussion thread and I'd rather leave discussion of if for that thread lest I vomit a little in my mouth.

I'll kick this off with what was a controversial move- I'm a fan of the newer TOS where they re did the special effects and spaces scenes. I love them and since recently seeing Amok Time i was astounded that they did the CIG equiv of matte paintings and had tiny figures moving in them. I love the new edition of TOS.

I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Favorite TOS episodes

Amok Time S2 E1 Spock must return to Vulcan for some Pong Far or was it Poon Tang? Well written and with a nice twist. And T'Pau was regal.

City on the Edge of Forever: normally I hate the "lets recycle back lot sets and do space gangsters or space nazis" but this "let's recycle the back lot sets" has better writing, Liz Taylor (at least how I'd rather remember her) and there is a bit of nostolgia in this one for me in that it was the Star Trek episode my grade school obtained on movie reel and played for us in class in 7th grade with a projector. Very cool that they did that. So I have a soft spot for this episode.

Galileo 7 : Its the TOS version of "Crash on Volturnus" like that Spock rationalizes making an illogical decision because it was the logical thing to do in that situation. Special note: bebut of the shuttle craft in TOS

TNG
"All Good Things" parts 1 & 2  a fitting end to the series. liked it very much and loved that Q was part of it.

Special mention: Quid- another Q episode and special mention of Worf in this doing the John Balushi/Animal House thing with Laforge/Will Scarlet's mandolin and his line, "Captian, I must protest, I am not a merry man!"

Time's Arrow was cool where they call the Enterprise back to Earth because of an artifact discovered under the tunnels of San Fransico which has been there for centuries- Data's head. Loved that Samuel Clemmens was part of the episode, great job by that guest star and he has the right ammount of spunk to the character.

Yesterday's Enterprise: history has been changed and the Enterprise B has been  brought forward into the present. because the time line is changed Tasha Yar is not dead but only Whoopie Goldberg knows that she's suppose to be dead. They fix and rearm Enterprise B  believing that it will be a great help in the current war that is going badly. They figure out that the "B" must go back to its time to save the present but her captain dies and the overwhelmed first officer bravely determines to do his duty but Yar asks to go with the "B". This of course sets up the Romulan threat storylines with the return of Denise Crosby as a 1/2 Romulan. Loved that they brought her back and gave her a fitting "death" and still brought her back as a Romulan.

Special Mention: Best of Both Worlds- i liked them doing a cliff hanger with Picard as a Borg and I liked that BoBW marks the return of Gate McFadden as the ships doctor. Polaski bugged me and I had a terrible crush on Beverly Crusher (It was the red hair, I have a thing for red hair which might be related to the loss of my virginity in colleged but thats perhaps too much information).

DS9

I love House of Quark. how could you not? Quark accidently kills a drunken Klingon and must take over his house? Lots of fun.that was. Love the you tube renditions of the song Master of the House with scenes of DS9.

Special Note: I liked the DS9 episodes I refer to as Worf-esodes after Dorn was added to the cast. the intro has better special effects and the writing was generally very good for these episodes. or do I just have a thing for Worf and Klingons? Either way I'm sure it not related to events in college ;)

And special mention Q-less: with the bare boxing match between Q and Sisko and sisko knocks Q on his butt. and Q exclaims, "You hit me, Picard never hit me!" Sisco, "I am not Picard!"

Voyager and Enterprise only breifly held my interests so no real favorites from those.

City on the Edge of Forever was written by Harlan Ellison and is widely considered the best of the episodes of the show. Will look again for Liz since Edith Keeler was played by Joan Collins (later of Dynasty fame)

First episode I thought of was Return of the Archons. Yep its a recycled set episode and not sure where all those costumes came from but just loved the computer controlled society and loss of technology and having to fight back with Resistance. Really loved the robed guys and their tubes of nothing.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

I like the Tribbles reboot for the later franchise (was it DS-9?), that was pretty slick inserting modern footage into the classic scenes.
I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out

Yep it was DS9 that did the Tribble reboot. Fun Fact when they digitally remastered the original they found stains on the uniform shirts of Kirk and Spock that they had to digitally erase.

Worf "Yes they are Klingons"
Sisko "Why do they look like that?"
Worf "Klingons do not talk about it"

Probably the greatest cover up in Federation history
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

Interestng. I have the digitally remastered TOS set (also digitally erased) so I never would have caught that...I watched both episodes back to back as the DS-9 version was part of the bonus feature on that particular disc.

Sisko "Why do they look like that?"
Worf "Klingons do not talk about it"

Yep, I definitely LMAO'd at that part for that reason.

Yep, that's the only episode from any of the new ST series that I like. The modern stuff takes itself a bit too seriously for my tastes, and is also a bit too soap opera-ish. As for the CGI, as I work in that field I think that the reworking wasn't very good. I'm not sure why it was done, as it looks rather odd IMHO. Okay, maybe some might say the TOS effects have data, but CGI dates even quicker.

From TOS I'd say my favourite episodes are: The Changeling, The Doomsday Machine, The Devil In The Dark, and Arena.

Ah, Devil in the Dark source of the quote: "I'm a doctor not a bricklayer."

and, "By golly Jim, I'm beginning to think I can cure a rainy day!"

From TOS I liked Tomorrow is Yesterday and Mirror Mirror. Spock as a goatee'd pirate in the latter (initially I thought he was a Klingon) and the constant swindle for command was a great twist.

I am a TOS guy...all the way. Granted, I'll watch TNG and Enterprise, but DS9 and Voyager are the devil.

My favorite episode is Where No Man has gone Before. The one with Gary Lockwood and Sally Kellerman. It was the only episode EVER in TOS that had a phaser rifle.

After that, The Doomsday Machine, The Lights of Zetar, Space Seed and The Enterprise Incident...in no particular order.

Trivia Note - Norman Spinrad wrote The Doomsday Machine. He also wrote The Void Captain's Tale. A sci-fi novel about the integral part of hyperspatial travel being a woman in the engine. When she had an orgasm, the ship would jump.

As a Star Fleet Battles fan, I have to include "Balance of Terror" (aka "The Enemy Below" in space). After that, it's really about half of TOS for favorites.

DS9: ALL the episodes with Garak-not-a-spy.
- Certainly "Duet" ("Why would a file clerk be teaching at the Cardassian Academy?" "Believe it or not, I taught filing.")

Not sure I have a favorite in TNG, I drifted away after the Borg appeared.

Pretty sure I do not have a favorite Enterprise episode, they lost me early.

I watched a lot of Voyager, but I don't know that I have a favorite.

A little torn on Garak, he was fun and witty, maybe a little over the top with the "James Bond" hiding in plain site thing. His episode with Doctor Bashir trapped in the James Bond holodeck was very funny. But then he started sorta dating the teenager. Got a little creepy at that point.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?
