Strange days indeed...

Yep, I've lived long enough to see strange days indeed:

How so Tom? Encountering young people who think cannibalism is the act of eating cannabis.

Close, oh so close but not quite.

They must have been drinking water from the Specific Ocean.

I had a lengthy yet entertaining argument with some ditz about that once, ending with me listing all four oceans in alphabetical order and asking which ocean she was "specifying" and she insisted on the Specific Ocean coupled with the fact that I couldn't comprehend basic English.

It was almost worthy of the Dudeman Files.

I am such a fan of the Dude Man files.

Of course there are people who will think the Dude Man files are about The Big Labowski

Fun flick, but idiocy is every where and it amazes me how smart the morons think they are. Also mindless mob thinking is in.

I can't make it 15 minutes into the day before someone gets me to questioning who ties their shoes for them.

Oh man. I know the feeling. I like it when I must discuss an issue with another adult, either parent or teacher concerning a child and I realize either they have had a lobotomy or are stoned on something... as they are unable to comprehend my words, speech is slurred, their eyes and body language is all wrong.

Any day now I'll start keeping a jug of bleach and some ice at my desk. Sometimes you just need a shot of that to keep your sanity...

LOL... OMG I know right. In a moment of boredom I tried using King James Era English to talk to the High School Teachers with, they did not understand anything I said... another day I tried common sayings in Latin, everyone looked stupid at me again... I mean the ones we all have heard, I had to explain it was Latin. So none of the younger teaching staff with degrees know older English or Latin, sigh. It is not like I am super smart, just average IQ, but God the current lack of education and logic skills in people baffles me.

The most frequent problem I come across is not so much the stupidity but how the current generation refuses to do anything for themselves. You explain the simple three step process to them half a dozen times and they ignore it because they just want someone else to do it for them...and when you tell them that THEY have to do it that's usually when things begin to escalate.

Like I said, who ties their shoes for them...

I'm not sure how much more of this entitlement mentality I can take. These mindless mouth breathing morons actually demand that we give them a job because they invested a couple hours of their precious time --- time that could have been otherwise better spent finger-banging away on facebook --- and on that merit alone they deserve the job. I swear I am thoroughly convinced that it is now perfectly acceptable to harass the #### out of your employer, whether you actually work for them or not.

Oh yes, the attitude do it for me group & there is also the attitude I know it all group but they don’t know shit in reality. And you have to be calm and reexplain or you are abussive, and they have rights and you are just rude for explaining the law, the policy, and saying no to them. Yes they are big idiots and they all need gold stars for the most basic success in their day... I feel the frustration as I deal with it just in other ways.

One day I showed teaching staff how to operate their copy machine, explained all it’s cool features, because I found a group of teachers standing around it not knowing how to operate it... I also showed them it has a manual. They thought I was from Tech Services, should have seen the jaws drop when I said no I am a school bus driver... the new machines can do all kinds of time saving stuff, like you can e-mail documents to them to print, use a data stick and make booklets and more... sigh, they couldn’t figure out how to turn it on let alone do old school copying. When I suggested they read the manual for more cool options they looked horrified. Seriously they wanted to be hand held no one wanted to read the manual.

Any instruction manuals need to be no more than 12 words or 8 seconds, whichever is shortest. Anything else might as well be from another planet. That's the key these days: small words & short sentences or else their attention drifts.

All Air Force manuals are written on an 8th grade reading level. Rumor has it the Army's are written on an even lower reading level.

Back in the 1990's Nevada's drivers license test was written at a 7th grade reading level. The state wasn't generating enough tax dollars from drivers licenses (since too many people were failing the test, which costs nothing, thus not spending any money on drivers licenses) so they dropped it down to a third grade level. There is talk now of dropping that down even further.

The answer is obvious: they just need to charge for the tests. They'll make a fortune from ignorance and stupidity while keeping those numbnuts off the road at the same time.

I know, and the number of morons on the road is increasing.

We had one teacher make every school bus out of her school 1 hour late, extra buses had to be diverted to bring unnecessary restraining devices, and all parents called to get special permission to put all the children in harnesses because she decided all children needed to be in harnesses as “that’s the law” she thinks restraining devices for children that have violent tendencies towards themselves or others or simply do not understand to keep the seatbelt on and stay seated are the same as car seats... no they are not, and legally the district can be sued if a child is put in restraints with out parental consent but it was the only way to get crazy lady off the lead school bus as she ranted and had all the other teachers running around doing her biding demanding all children be in harnesses and inspecting the busses to determine they were safely equipped... full on abusive ranting too. We all heard the drama on the radios. She is a moron and does not know the law and a bully. She and her stooges created all sorts of problems, so glad her school is not one of my schools as I would not have put a single normal healthy child in restraints to calm an idiot adult nor make their parents say it was okay, I would have simply informed dispatch I was calling the cops to have her and any other teacher removed from my bus as she was an out of control adult in breach of federal law by boarding my bus without consent and refusing to get off... transportation laws are not touchy feely like the public thinks.

All I can say is Thank God it's Friday, two days away from the armpits of society.

I lost faith in humanity long ago, this job merely serves to drive that loss further than I could have ever imagined...and I can imagine quite a bit.

Well I had some idea some people were morons and others crazy, but I had no clue it was over 50% of the population till I started interacting with the masses.
