probably the easiest station in your examples to produce a full deck plan for is Laco Research Station.

based off the pictures and your stats is a space station HS 1

that gives us 200 meters diameter and roughly 628 meter circumference (Pi x 200m)

its laid out as 6 straight sides so 105m rounded up per side

3 spokes coming down in the middile of three sides.

I'm guessing the effective mapping scale is 1 square = 2 meters?

gives us 52 squares rounded down per map section.

OR

break up each of the sides into two section of 50 meters which will be a managable 25 squares in length

on the three sides with spokes there is an identical elevator lobby with pressure doors leading to either section on that side to the left or right of the elevator lobby This will only require one map which is used 3 times. on the ohter three sides there is a middle "lobby" section that has 2 pressure doors leading to the two sections for that side but this lobby would be a lifeboat lobby? perhaps 2 lifeboats  per lobby?

I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Some discontinuity between setting fluff for this station and other things we know about the setting.

OK, OK primary source of the setting discontinuity is Zebs Guide with the corporate war between PGC and Streel for control of Laco

however other sources imply a PGC presence here: the one SF article Zeb Cook wrote "Encounters" had a PGC archaeological team on Laco which later ties in with the Zebs material of Tetrarch Pyramids on Laco and the newer PGC logo as seen in Zebs with the pyramids incorporated into the logo.

I've generally taken PGC to be the winner, of sorts, of Laco's war retaining control of the Tetrarch ruins as implied by the logo change and thus the dominant presence on Laco.

Also will a research station really require 1000 personnel?

I only question it as I was toying with the idea of a deck plan and an adventure set here

1000 is a lot to manage.

may be i just need to make a deck plan for a station of my own devising and write the setting fluff to fit: HS 1 with limited crew of 25-50.

Would it require 1000? No. Can it house 1000? Yes.

Figure the permanent residents (administrative staff and Streel office management) to be around 250 plus whatever ship crews are present. The rest is simply available for visitors and short term residents.
I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out

Residents 200
Capacity 1000

no doubt it played a significant role in Streel's mobilization for the Laco War with PGC.

Ok, 1000 is doable in the size of station pictured in the write up (the hexagon wheel one) if not all 1000 have their own apartments.
For the 200 apartment residents is this all single beings or are there couples living together?  Are there any dependents?
For the other 800, is this hotel room size accommodations, dorm style 4 to a room, barracks 10+ to a room, or some mix of all three?
Then, do you assume an equal amount of working and lab space in the ring?

Back when I was a contractor in Kuwait everyone was assigned their own room. We had a couple who met and married there and while they moved in together they still had their own rooms.
No dependents were allowed. You were there to work not have a life. If you do have dependents then some of those "empty rooms" will need to be repurposed into schools, parks, entertainment venues and other facilities that do not serve the purpose of the station.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

Its a research station so i think no dependents or if there is one then its an unusual situation.

Can they have pets? I hear pet Yazirians can be trained not to poop inside.

I'm going with Laco Station Being a work environment that people rotate into for work assignments.  Families will typically stay planet side but may visit for short periods.  The 800 additional capacity will be in four up dorm room type accomodations that can be repurposed to office or lab space when not in use.

Meanwhile the humans can never be trained to refrain from slinging it. ;)
