The setting?

An idea is worming its way through my head:

Cook and Schick didn't want a canned setting such as the Frontier we got.

They wanted a sand box setting geared to exploration.

tempted to grab a map of the galactic neighborhood surrounding earth in the milkyway place other other member of the Core Fore in various places. with Alph Centari central and or the central meeting place.

Of course there is the problem of earth political entities being projected into the future? Unless you "destroy" earth and leave the Moon & Mars colony. Maybe make Sol system a ghetto/trailer park and Alpha Centari has become the "Gleaming City on a Galactic Hill"

(No Port Loren in Alien Worlds the PCs can visit Port Lawrence at Alpha Centari)

I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

I know we're not using anything from Zebs, but the Tetrarchs really arnt a bad idea.

If we have to be fully committed to obliterating anything Kim Eastland did then we can call them something else?

Ancient dead civlization with advanced tech. Rumors that Tetrarch tech has been coming out of the Sigma sector is what gets the PCs into action- they have to go looking for it or run down a buyer/seller of the stuff and backtrack to the source.

NOTE the one Dragon article that Zeb Cook wrote for Star Frontiers, called Encounters and detailed the meeting between an Ul-mor and a PGC archeaologist on Laco suggests support for the tetrarchs or a Tetrarch like stand in. What exactly is the archeaologist digging up on Laco? (or was he a different kind of scientist?)

Cook making his scientist archeaologist character a member of a PGC team is tacit support for PGC in Alien Worlds.

I would headquarter the corp at Port Lawrence, Proxima Centari.

And what about STar Law?

It feels like something Cook and Schick would have cooked up.

Home worlds?

Does it not feel like we've visited Port Loren? but what do we really know about Gran Quivera? Not much but all SF fans proably feel a strong affinity for Port Loren and feel like they have visited it.

Could we not handle homeworlds on a minimalist level: develop a Poster sized map of a downtown central area. some environment descriptions, population levels, economy information as a write up, some flavor "encounters"

perhaps some "layover" adventures

With tacit Cook Support for PGC- its probably his and Schick's idea. what other mega corps do we want? The Panoply of mega corps given to us in KHs and Zebs? I think not for two reasons. It will feel too STar Frontiers ish and there are too many anyways.

How about Blue Horizon with a shallow blue arch above starting at the B in blue and ending at the N in horizon. with a star peaking above the horizon arch just over the L in blue.

straight up competitor for PGC and abusive employer taking advantage of its employees.

Edit: I think I was subconsciously thinking of Blue Sun from Firefly "two by two, hands of blue" when I came up with Blue Horizon.

The point is PGC needs a competitor and if we don't port in the plethora of Star Frontiers mega corps then we need to invent one. The only reason for not making the competitor Streel is that it's a step in the direction of porting in all the SF megacorps. Either way PGC will need a competitor IMO.
