Well, that didn't take long.
I can already see why traffic is down on the site.
Every thread becomes a debate, and gets derailed.

Delete my account please.

Thanks for the opportunity to be something that
was better in the past than it is now.

So I take it you've never had a game that erupted into a 15+ minute guffaw session when something humorous happened?

Every forum I belong to --- not just gaming, mind you --- has off topic banter/debate/sidetrack discussion/etc/etc/etc. This is how you get to know the other members better, if not for the off-topic banter I would never know that TerlObar is a rocket scientist or Iggy is an engineer, both of which have been able to answer numerous questions I have fielded with what I can comfortably call informative and accurate responses.
No, I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide. Nor do I have any qualms in stating why. Tongue out

No matter how serious you try to make a game, it always ends in jokes. You play SF like it's Star Wars or Star Trek and end up playing Space Balls.
Disussions on this board are like any other and tend to go the same way.
In every age, in every place, the deeds of men remain the same.

I beleive he is upset about how the UPF Uniforms thread drifted off into reflective hulls:

Why is this now a debate on ship hulls?

It's his last post prior to starting this thread, although as I pointed out over there it actually is related and on-topic.

He posted a lot of fan fiction too and there wasn't a lot of comments about it so I bet that played into it as well.  My feeling is we didn't provide the amount of attention being sought.

Actually, no. I would ask questions and get no reply. I would post here, at FB, and the Google site only for the thread to begin some kind of argument or get taken off track of the original subject.
So, attention? Nah, I got enough of it through those threads & I get enough at home from my wife.
I decided to take my writing skills elseware since I have a trademark on a design. It's been too long
to be sitting on it, so, story telling and imaging will be focused elseware.
Thanks for the opportunity.
Delete my accout, images, and project.
Thanks.

Wow, I dont think we have had a blow up like this since..... hhhmm its been a while and I wont name the incidents lest i resurrect them. Best to let dead arguements lie.

I could delete the individual post, and the profile but not sure if I couled delete the project he started. (I'm sure Terl Obar could delete the project). However, I dont see the need to delete the post as many were part of a discussion and that would cause a "Huh, what did I miss" reaction to someone new trying to read old threads. If I deleted the profile all the thread posts would be acredited to anomymous which is sort of irritating so i dont think I'll delete the profile.

In the end its up to Terl Obar to decide if he wants to act on this request. however Lt. Dan can close his project if he liked by editing it from the home page.

Yup!  I pointed out our failure and he took it as an attack.  He had just joined the site and had a flury of activity.  Too bad he didn't join in a more active time of year.  Summer is routinely slow.

Actually, deleting the projects really isn't an option.  Bill tried that once during the aforementioned incident and it sort of broke the site until he set up a workaround.  I can probably go in and lock it down though.  As for deleting posts, I agree, that shouldn't happen as it is part of the discussion on the site.

Well our forums may not be for him. I've been part of forums that I decided were not for me and I drifted off. One site, a terrain building site, had an admin who decided that everyone who had previously uploaded pictures now how to go back and write captions for every single picture they ever uploaded even if they had years of such uploads because it would make the site better. He locked down your site permissions till you did what he wanted- for the most part that just meant you could not upload any new photos which by extension meant you could not participate in any terrain building contest.

Needless to say I had uploaded a lot of pictures while participating in terrain building contests and was not enthusiastic about the new requirements. If it had been simply all new photos uploaded to the site required captions explaining what you were looking at then fine but as it was I was not going to be put in the dog house till I complied with the site admin and retroactively wrote captions for 100's of pictures. So I lost my log in and pass word and haven't checked in there in at least a decade.

If our site is not for Lt. Dan I wish him well in his endeavors.

Gee. I missed this whole thing. I saw he started a project and joined it early on but I haven't had the opportunity to read much on this site or post anything for the past several weeks due to work and family matters... I probably am going to be distracted for a bit longer too...

I suppose it would be safe to presume that with the detest for this site that none of the material within will be sourced at his other boards?

"You guys suck!"

(but I'll continue to plagiarize this project, that project, these projects, and those projects)

My guess is that he will conduct "research" -- i.e. copying ideas from multiple sources.

I'm not sure what his writing credentials are -- which he seemingly brags about -- because, unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to read his postings before he deleted them, but I would not denigrate other people's ideas and posting.

Which is exactly why I pointed out the spelling error (he actually made the error twice so it's not a typo...I just didn't see the need to take it any further). Simply put, if you're going to put yourself on a pedestal like that you'd better be perfect in the execution.
