This article examines the growing attendance at "geek" events.

Favorite quote: Or to put it another way, the geeks have inherited the Earth...and it's starting to become very crowded.

The attendance is due to cosplay, not gaming. GenCon should split into two or three separate events each year, separating tabletop gaming from cosplay and from video gaming.

I can't wait for the day when the industry wakes up to the realization that there is a dramatic and fundamental difference between tabletop RPG's and video game RPG's.

Yes, but being inclusive of cosplay markedly ups the estragen in attendance at the con, which is not a bad thing IMO.

Exhibits A, B and and damn I lost count.

I am guessing Gencon will split into different cons when Comiccon does. Are there any comics at Comiccon these days?
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

Can anyone count jedion's images? I count 1 - 2 - red - red - red. Is red a number? :P

There are already 20 Comicons. They all have different names, but it is the same organization.
