This site is IMHO an interesting overview of different sci-fi themes (weapons, spaceships, etc) and whether they can be figured out in a realistic way using science. There's a great deal of information to digest, but there's a lot of variety and ideas. Added to that is some interesting sci-fi art from various sources:

Cool atomic rockets has had an overhaul since I was last there.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Cool. Pacific Rim references, but enough with Avatar rip off of AT Votom and Heavy Gear mechs. Votoms was around first, and could still kick the can of those cheap and cheezy AMP suits.
In every age, in every place, the deeds of men remain the same.

If I remember correctly, Dream Pod 9 had a physicist as a consultant for their technical details. Such detail always made their books a good read.

Well when you look at the deck arrangements of the ships in Jovian Chronicles, it's about as hard sci-fi gaming as you can get. Maybe the Exo-Armors are stretching it a bit, but there's still the powered armored troops. But even the Heavy Gears themselves have a touch of credibility to them.

Deckplans are usually incorrect, as their layout is most often shown like an ocean liner (i.e. engine at the back, layers of decks at 90 degrees to the engine). You'd  have to invent some sort of artificial gravity to make that work. Star Frontiers deckplans work okay though, IIRC.

I should have pointed it out, the deck layout for Jovian Chronicles is the same as that of Star Frontiers.
