The Athor Combined Defense Command (ACDC) is the combined militia of Yast and Exib in the Athor system. Each planet rules itself but they cooperate to present a unified system militia.

For a long time it was a strictly non void capable militia, operating fighters, shuttles and the yakka class sloop.

The uniform colors of the ACDC warriors is black with silver trim. they more than stand out planet side and this makes performing your civil service obligation in the militia very desirable. BDU is alternately a black with gray trim skein suit or a camo pattern optimized for the outback of Exib or Yast.
An important part of the warrior's kit is his kahdan honor sword worn on the side or across the back. Warriors are allowed to use a kahdan presented by their clan if it's "honor" is significant but most take immense pride in carrying a kahdan emblazoned with the militia coat of arms or crest.

Thus in the Warrior's theme song "Back in the Black" there is a double meaning: back in the black uniform and back in the black of space which both refer to a return to service.

The yakka bear is their mascot, a territorial omnivore

"Back in the Black"
Set to the tune of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAgnJDJN4VA

We're back in the black cause the odds are stacked,
Against our worlds, there aint no turning back.
We've been set loose
And we cannot lose.
We heard the warrior call
And stand or Fall we'll give our all.
There aint no dishonor to die
No one will take our sky
The Battle Rage has us running wild.

chorus:
Cause we're Back in the black
On the Yakka Attack
We wont turn our back
No matter how the odds are stacked
Well, we're back, back
Yes we're back in the black
We wont turn our backs.

ACDC warriors know that they are often out gunned and that their ships are not the best in space but they make up for that with an attitude inspired by their territorial mascot, the yakka bear. They dont run, they dont surrender, they dont back down and they are not afraid to die.

Space Fleet is very careful about allowing its crews liberty in the Athor system with stern standing orders to not get into any bar brawls. Incidents in the past have not gone well for cocky Space Fleet crews who got their butts kicked royally.

Being an ACDC warrior means manditory melee weapon training, along with all the other skills required in a modern Frontier militia.

Test sketch of the yakka bear:

I figured with a name like "bear" that is should look something like a bear. thus I spent a few hours on wikipedia looking at extinct and rare bear species then mixed in rhino hide. Not happy with the drawing yet but this is just a test sketch done in the waiting room at dance school (the other mothers must find me more than a little odd).

So the direction I was going with this was armored territorial omnivore making him tough.

Since he's the mascot of the ACDC militia and the name sake of the work horse sloop built and utilized by them I'm working him up as a fully described creature from Yast. Since I was going with a black dress uniform for the militia I decided that the bear's color should be black with some silver gray accents or markings (markings should be minimal and possibly like those seen on asiatic or spectacled bears). Since the bear has an armored hide I'm now thinking that this militia should have partial polyplate as part of their BDU.
space suit armor is automatically issued as well.

Automatic basic kit (so far) for an ACDC warrior: Black dress uniform skein suit, Camo pattern skein suit with partial polyplate armor BDU (camo skien suit can be worn for regular duty but poly armor worn only for battle), Kah'dan honor sword with militia creast on it, vacuum suit and armor

Something not covered in the rules on polyplate armor is: Can a yazirian glide while wearing it? Full polyplate would be a no IMO. Partial polyplate- I could go with no or that you treat the gravity as 0.1 point higher meaning a yaz wearing partial poly plate armor attempting to glide in .8 gravity would have the same effect as if it were .9 gravity. Not sure which way to go on that right now.

Although i just found this picture of a "water bear"
and it looks truly alien, I might go in this direction with the next generation of the sketch

Love it just need you to put the hair spray down and step back for a moment.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

Working on stats for the yakka bear, in particular a special attack: charge and trample was the first idea but charge and toss was in the brainstorm. Since the yakka is the militia mascot the theme of "charge" evoked the idea of warriors charging into melee shouting "yakka" as a battle cry.
