A.I. - thought I had seen the movie but turned out I had not. Wow that was some freaky stuff that hits the rotary air impeller. But then with Stanley Kubrick being the genius behind it before Spielberg completely took over I guess I shouldn't be that surprised by it being freaky.

Of course its not strickly a Sci fi movie but rather a different kind of story altogether just told with sci fi trappings.

Still I loved the understated sci fi elements like the car and the police copter. I liked the extrapolations that were made to project changes in society and reactions to those changes by humanity.

I keep having this weird fuge that Robin Williams was in the movie I though I had seen; cant shake that.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

I liked A.I. but find that it is not a movie that I want to watch again and again.  This was a movie that caused you to think about humanity and what makes you human.  I liked how it was futuristic without going overboard to show you that it was in the future.

You are remembering the movie Bicentenial Man with Robin Williams.

People like to blame Spielberg for the weird alien (robot) ending, but in truth, it was Kubrick's idea. It seems they are not space aliens of the anal-probing variety, but are mechanized lifeforms that came from AIs, and were researching their creators. Otherwise, it was a really boring ending.

it was a little confusing that those were robots at the end as they looked like escapees from Close Encounters.
I figured out they were robots from watching the extras on the DVD.

When I re-watch it now, I keep half expecting Haley Joel Osment to say, "I see dead people..."
Innocent

Seriously, its a pretty cool flick, I don't think a flooded NYC will be around for long, those building will never stand up to the saltwater, not to mention all the tunnels under the city.  Still, its a nice idea... Perhaps if it did freeze quickly, it would slow the erosion process... but then the ice sheets would just tear the building off their bases like twigs on a lake... when they move as a whole.

Robin Williams IS in A.I. - he plays the Einstein-like hologram that answers questions.

Right!  I had totally forgotten that.  Again, A.I. is not a movie that I have felt drawn to watch over and over again.

I would rewatch it for the giggalo Joe character, I liked him. To rewatch it and observe the tragic, innocent character of the robot boy is just not appealing. Gamewise, think the setting works for a board game but not an rpg, yes you probably could make it into an rpg but i think it works best as a board game with the teddy bear, the boy robot, Giggalo Joe, and the other bots scrounging for parts as playing pieces and the game is played out like an adaption of the game "Life" where the player wins if his robot can discover the meaning of its life not assemble a family in a little plastic car.
